Is it possible to remove a tank pad (Honda one), without ruining the plastic tank? I have put a new one on. Unfortunately; it does not look symmetrical . Doing my head in. I imagine the glue can be cleaned off.
Just use a hairdryer to gently lift the pad away. WD40 will remove any excess bits then just wash that off.
I had flagged using a hair dryer, but haven't done the deed yet. Like @Great Guy , I am a tad nervous about causing any damage.
Yeah, I did open myself to such a comeback. But now I'm thinking I'll leave it and become a leader not a follower!!
Hairdryer using dental floss to cut through the softened glue. WD or if brave petrol on a micro fibre will remove any deposits
Just as a matter of interest, does it matter how long the tank pad is on? I might remove it next year.
A little heat will get it off as Lozzy said, a hair dryer is best. Never had any issues removing tank pads before and I've also managed to get them off without leaving glue on the tank or plastics. As some of you will know I'm partial to the odd decal or two and have mastered the art of mess free adhesive removal. I've recently removed a section of eazi-grips tank grippers which have incredibly sticky adhesive without so much as a smidgen of glue left behind. It was so sticky i feared it would tear my paint off! HEAT IS YOUR FRIEND !
Thanks. It will be removed next year. I have to get my monies worth ! Who knows the lack of symmetry might grow on me.
They're only 15 quid! If I see it up at Squires I'm going to get them to tannoy everyone to come and look at your wonky tank pad and shame you into it
