Hi all! Excuse the highly imaginative tag. Quite new here, but came straight in looking for a frame. What a heathen! Bought my 2010 Blade in February this year, got taken off it in May! A word to the wise. When filling in an accident report form, try not to say you were filtering, if at all possible. It seems that, although not illegal, judges view it as a risky manoeuvre and despite it being the absolute fault of the BMW driver, his insurance company are offering 50/50. Anyway. Am so glad I upgraded from a Firestorm. Completely different but way more intoxicating. Mine's a cat B, but thanks to vic-ster51 & his help with a frame, will rebuild & re-register before summer's out - I hope! Steve
Welcome to the forum B&W glad you managed to get sorted with a replacement frame. Make sure to do a blog with all the pics showing the strip down and rebuild - we (or at least I and some others here) really like that sort of stuff
Cheers Boothman. There'll definitely be pictures (otherwise it didn't happen!) as I'll need clues as to where everything goes. I hope I can do the job as good as Mr Honda.
Welcome. His insurance company will offer 50/50 as it is a better deal for them. Tell them to go boil their heads.
From a previous (easier) project, also photograph EVERYTHING when you are stripping it down, not just when rebuilding. Its amazing how useful it is to see what goes where. Anyhoo... welcome!
Thanks Bazza. I used to be a mechanic but teach apprentices now. At least I did until getting knocked off put paid to that. Still, at least I've got a bit of time on my hands now.
Cheers Bikeboy. I've made a castellated socket by taking a disc cutter to an 18mm socket! It worked on the frame/engine lock nut.
Cheers Bishbosh. I avoided a picture that included what's in my garage, even though I don't keep chip oil in there!
Thanks Barstewardsquad. I know they're chancing their arm & trying to get away with minimum. Got solicitors on the case & I'm disputing their offer, especially as I've not had an insurance claim in 37 years.
Haha! Thanks exuptoy. I was on the M25 in heavy traffic. Had just been filtering between lanes 3 & 4 when lane 3 became clear so I moved into it. Mr BMW wanted lane 3 as well when I was alongside him as he was trying to gain that all important car length/3 seconds. His passenger front door crushed my right leg & the bike & myself went down on RH side. I'm trying to say I wasn't filtering when it occurred so that it goes in my favour. Even 75/25 would be OK for me.
