as title, my key is getting harder to turn(catching) and someone said you should not use oils So what should you use? Bit surprised as well because it’s only done 8000 miles
I’ve heard the same but I’d go for soaking it with a good amount of wd40 then hitting it with a blast of air from an air duster can - make sure to keep a rag or some kitchen roll over it whilst both soaking and blasting
Graphite powder. Recommended by reliable locksmiths: https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/prod...PAJsrfyTM927IsfSUswaAuWuEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
I had the same problem with mine, I used to have to use the spare key to free it up. However since I squirted a bit of graphite powder in the lock ut has been fine. Do not squirt WD40 or oil in there it will only attract dirt and make the problem worse.
Cheers. We used to use it a lot in the trade (as a Honda mechanic). The locks problem is more severe with bikes left to the elements. But graphite will also work wonders for tight domestic locks, and quite possibly the now corroded chastity belt I fitted to wife number two.
See, there is the problem. You should have installed the "Disk" lock..you may still be married if you had.
