Well, any aeronautical engineers on here??

With the lack of anything else to do i started Tigger and ran up to temperature just to get my fix of the Akra’s note. Whilst standing there drooling I got to looking at the crash bungs and although they are elliptical I figure by changing their angle of attack they could create downforce at speed. The top surface is now horizontal as seen in the photo.
    Any thoughts?

Way I understand it is that downforce is the opposite of lift. A plane flies because of the pressure differential between to top and bottom of a wing, so if you made the air flow faster on the bottom of the bung it should produce some downforce. How much I have no idea but doubt it would be noticeable.

    Thanks @Barstewardsquad
Honda have no doubt spent millions on their winglets to give the same effect as me moving my bungs 15 degrees o_Oo_O
Ok, theirs may look cool ;);):D

    Most helpful.

After taking delivery of my 2020 I am going to BSS's home to have my winglet-enhanced fairing optimised.:D:D

Hey. It's just the male version of a woman rummaging through her handbag, which in many cases has the same cubic capacity as a man cave!!;)

Wouldn't know Nige...I've not got one

Obviously invented by a bloke in order to weigh the other half down and keep them in their rightful place 2 steps behind.....although McD's seem to have contributed as well over the last few years:rolleyes:

I'm thinking this has just proved his correct, as the bottom of yours is the flat section, proving lift.

With the lungs the flat section is on top so it would push down instead? I'm not sure haha

I think, @LRJimmy , that you should swap the bungs to the opposite sides.

This will result in each bung having a lesser and more acute frontal profile with the added result of less forward motion resistance commonly referred to as drag. A final buff with Mr Sheen will further enhance their aerodynamic 'slip' qualities. :);)

May try these, upside down of course. If they don’t work I can always cook them on my exhaust and eat them.

Absolutely no downforce there @LRJimmy just a bit of drag..... I believe they are aero bungs?? Taken from the classic aerofoil shape which as we all know was taken from the profile of a birds wing and then into the world of aviation to make aeroplanes 'FLY'!!!!

Winglets as we know have been introduced to the motorcycling world to create 'downforce' to keep the motorcycle 'DOWN' and so are the opposite of an aerofoil like so...... Good effort though, typical Scotsman treein te save a few poonds;):D Screenshot_20191125_183733.jpg

And Paulo takes another few steps toward purchasing the Yamaha.

I'm damn sure I'll see him on the Yamaha forum soon.

I'm seriously considering a 2019 with free Akrapovic exhaust..... Last few left at Wigan Yamaha. Nicer colour scheme than the 2020 model too.

But no I must resist the temptation for another 2 years :(

Style over function is always the best approach, I bet a lot of mods done to GP bikes are done so they can add them to next years road bike as everyone needs these new additions,
