Anyone got one? Do they work for smoother gear changes/less false neutrals?

I’m particularly interested on hearing about 08-12 blades with them. Nothing worse than hitting neutral between 1-2 after pulling away from a set of lights in front of a lid of totty :D:eek:

    feedback appreciated as always :)

I have one mate from and can highly recommend a company called racetorx.
For me it did make a difference and the gear shift a lot more positive.

Thanks Raph, been looking between racetorx (who I believe are close to me geographically) and gillies, glad to hear its more than a ‘gimmick’. Worth the £50-odd?

If I remember correctly I think racetorx are only 30 quid ish and you can have an anodised colour

Didn't have one on my 2011 and never had a problem with missed changes or false neutrals.

I might be out of line here, but from my familiar 'Devil's Advocate' position, I wonder if many of the problems arise from owners not having the gear lever in the most optimum position of the shaft spline? Even one tooth too high, and the inevitability of missing the upshift must be high. Just my theory mind you to add to your feedback.;)

I looked at gilles tooling a couple of years back (Ti only) but decided I didn't need it. I don't get false neutrals.
I sometimes cannot engage first after slowing down to a stop (e.g traffic lights) but a quick clutch out & in does it.
would be interested to see how you get on with it:)

I don’t necessarily get them, only at the most awkward of times :D

I wanted to try one on my 2007 but I binned it before getting the chance :(

I’m interested in taking the punt and finding out for £50 if not I can always pass it on

I must admit. I wasnt happy with the gear change on my 08 . It felt alittle vague at times. .I fitted one and it was an improvement. It felt more precise. I bought a Giles one as that's all I could find but since then I've seen a few different types.
Is it life changing. No ..would I buy it again ..yes but a cheaper one.

Got a Gilles gear shaft support. As above not life changing, but it does make gear shift more positive. Would I buy one again? Absolutely.
The other thing that helped was my rear sets, a lot less play in the linkage.

Have one on my CBR600f, also a 2014 Fireblade, and before that a CBR929. All Racetorx ones. It improved/improves shift quality/reliability on all three. Recommend the Racetorx.

Will go with racetorx, as I thought they are only around 30minutes from me. Might tap them up for some machining!

I still struggle with a gadget that prevent the odd mm of movement yet the linkage has 3-4mm movement anyway

or is it more you know its in and its in your head and your just that little bit firmer with the change

never had one but never had an issue... as our it dept keep saying PICNIC.. problem in chair not in computer

Having ridden bikes for the last 40 years I would like to think I know when a bike has a crap gear change, It had 700 miles on when I got it and had loads of false neutrals all gears normally going up the box, Never had a bike like it. I have made a lever support and moved the rod so less movement to change, I don't know whether it is now better or have learnt to force it in, I now get very few at 7k miles

Have you got one yet @mk3golfcab
I really should stop thinking and having impulses but Ive had a few false neutrals and a couple of hitting neutral when going into second. I had a wobble around on the splined shaft and there is a fair bit of play there. The linkage had virtually zero play and i have the selector angle adjusted to suit me and firm enough in my changes so like you I think I may try the Racetorx. They are on for £32 at the moment ;)

Haven’t gone for one yet, I think it’s definitely worth a punt though and will go for one after Xmas (pretty much hit my limit of bike spending for this month already :D:rolleyes:)

    Get a quickshifter.
You’ll have more fun fitting it at the very least
