Just learnt from my dealer (Honda/Triumph) this morning that labour rates for servicing etc have just increased to £110.00 per hour!!:eek: WTF!!

I no longer deal with hourly rate trades any longer, but surely £110 is out of the norm - except for BT?

I am fortunate, as previously mentioned, to have a great independent workshop close by with former Honda-qualified techs.

Hope you got a free service plan thrown in on your new sp N....if not I would cancel order and call every dealer in the land and get one - one of them in the land will throw it in....

That's madness. My local indie (Franco's Motorcycles!) are £45/hour. Utter bargain in London.

The deal's not fully on paper as yet, but I cooked my goose after maximising the p/x on my RR4. I couldn't even get the pillion seat thrown in. That's the prob with new releases. Dealers do not NEED to be negotiable, although I did cross-quote with another nearby dealer.

I have looked at the service plans, and there was some discussion about them in an earlier thread. £675 for 3 services. My problem is that I do not accumulate enough miles on my bikes. The service plan has a cut off of 27 months. That would see me with the 600 mile first service, and then 2 'annual' oil and filter services. I would not get to the major 8,000 mile service within the time frame.

Further, for oil and filter I prefer to do myself, but with the new bikes I believe in keeping up service book records so will pay my local independent solely so I can have the book stamped. Over-the-top, I know, but that is the level of my fanaticism - or stupidness - depending which side of the camp you're on!;)

If you want FSH on it you need to follow the schedule which is x miles or y months depending on which comes first.

Waiting 3½ years for the 1st service isn't an option :p
