That's MV. None in UK, had to order from Italy.

I know we can buy off eBay from all around the world and get stuff in under 9 weeks. My point here is that MV website provided a picture and part number for the F4 rear cowl, and now I'm told it's for 2010 onwards only. No such info was made available at the point of purchase. If the factory had to make one specially for me, that doesn't render the purchaser liable for any omission of relevant information. Of course, if I could physically adapt it I would, but that's just not possible. :(

No harm Nige but for that money I wouldn’t be adapting even if you could!

That’s disgraceful treatment of a customer

    Thanks Alan-lee.

No response from their promised update. Sending formal letter of refund application under my consumer rights as product 'not fit for the purpose'. In the meantime, I've bought a carbon replacement of an MV forum member - and at less than half the price! Will need a good UK painter to colour match.

Just came back here to vent off yet another rant (so I can justify my own rant thread:rolleyes:) and it seems I never gave a conclusion to the MV seat cowl dilemma. In brief, I received full refund after initiating County Court action.

Today, I bring an issue against Royal Mail, and then for good measure take another swipe at motorcycle insurance.

Just returned from my local Post Office to send a reply in a 1st Class pre-paid envelope, supplied by the addressee. As it was legal mail I asked to pay the difference to send it 1st Class Signature Required. Turns out that Royal Mail will not honour the pre-pay and so insisted I pay the full £2.80. The issue is not the overall cost, but the audacity of Royal Mail to countermand and deny the business supplying the pre-paid envelope to offer its client a complimentary service.

I'm on the insurance trawl again for the soon-to-arrive Daytona. Got one quote from my respected BeMoto https://www.bemoto.uk/ , with whom I have 5 bikes, but then thought I'd be 'patriotic' and use Triumph Insurance https://triumphinsurance.co.uk/Default.aspx expecting their premium might be more competitive. I won't reveal quotations because all our circumstances will be different, BUT Triumph came in £130.00 less than BeMoto.

Because these bikes are not yet delivered, I could not start the policy today so agreed to leave a deposit. I will add that I pay all my policies up front in full. Then came the most absurd 'catch'. Because I was leaving only a deposit, the policy would be deemed to be 'monthly'. That, in itself, is not a problem, BUT it transpired that it subjected me to having my information shared around Credit Reporting Agencies.

Whilst that might be a formality, I am pedantic in that since I am not applying for credit but intending to leave a deposit to formalise the annual premium, there is no way known my details should be broadcast around all of UK's financial institutions. I have no adverse credit ratings, this is solely a gripe at the 'Big Brother' situation we continually find ourselves subject to.

Went on to the 'Compare the Market' site, but no insurers would return a quote, possibly because it's still pre-release.

    Cheers, Golfy.

Sometimes it's not about the moaning or the gripes; as you know, it's about putting some info in the public arena that might be of assistance to others. Sure, no one can trounce the might of Royal Mail, but in the insurance matter it might help people be more cautious of the increasing elusiveness of Terms and Conditions and those pesky little asterisks that insulate companies from just about every form of complaint and recourse.:)

Nige, I thank you my good man, sometimes I wake in the night in a sweat wondering why I am such a miserable, grumpy, angry man who is constantly fighting the world for a share of fairness.

Reading your posts I have had a lightbulb moment and realise that actually I am quite normal and that the spirit of Victor Meldrew lives on in you my friend.

Just spent the best part of one hour on the phone to MCE and Bennetts to quote the new Daytona.

After 27 minutes with Bennetts I'm told: 'Sorry, the bike doesn't come up.'
I replied, 'But you've already confirmed it's the Moto 2 bike.'
'Yes, but it's not on the insurers charts yet.'

I'll supposedly get an email back from them.

At least MCE quoted the bike: friggin' £1191.00:eek:

I already have £547 from BeMoto and £418 from Triumph Insurance.

    I guess I won't do any better.

The worst thing with all this is wasting time with all the preamble and then the can you confirm this and friggin that!!:mad::mad:

Another 16 minutes with Hastings Insurance. Give all the info, the bike's on their system. Yay!!!

Guy comes back to me and says, 'It's a bike our insurers won't quote on.':mad::mad:

Bit the bullet and went with Triumph Insurance.:)

Should be Saturday, but for some reason the dealer cannot confirm when they receive it from Triumph:rolleyes:. Given the weather forecast, I'm going to have to go for a 'complimentary delivery'!!

This close to the end of the year and with no riding prospects on the horizon I’d have thought you’d have had it registered in 2020?

Cheers Ron. I really struggle with those who see that as an advantage. It will still have a 2019 VIN and recorded on V5 as 2019 year of manufacture. For a number plate update, one would have to wait until March 2020 to have any 'visual' advantage of it looking to be a newer bike. As I have my own plate of 'GP02 REP', the number plate issue is of no consequence.

Further, this is not PCP where it might be sold/offloaded in 3 years, so again, a 2020 registration will make no difference. I envisage having the bike long-term and leaving it in my Will to @gary1966 because he so foolishly cancelled his order:D.

Finally, anyone keen (and fortunate:)) enough to be able to get one of these on the second hand market will probably have done their 'homework' and know that these bikes were manufactured in 2019. Production is complete; none will carry a 2020 VIN.;)
