Interesting. I don't know what I would do on such limited criteria. Not a lot of difference between the two, save for electronics. More importantly though, are you considering base or SP versions? That will affect price.

I will always defer to condition and mileage of a bike and rate price a distant last. I haven't had a 2015 model or its variants but I do have a 2018. The bike rides exceptionally well and is a good fit, but perhaps a little tighter than the 2015 as the trend seems to keep shrinking bikes. All in all, I would lean toward the SP versions, not only for their refinements in suspension and brakes, but also they should represent a higher resale value in future years.

Go for the later bike I had the 2014 new one feels more nimble but tighter riding position so depending on your weight and size you may find the older model more comfortable ....will be some great deals out there with the lastest one coming out and some good pxs so hold on for the best deal plenty about ...as N says try to stretch to a sp ...2018 as some of the 2017 had issues that were ironed out...

Recently saw 2017 SP with 3500 miles dealer advertised at under £10k that's surely got to be a bargain price.

if you're going for a 2017 check the throttle response. It can be a bit shit.

    Wrong attitude;).

Sometimes you have to rush in if the bike is right and the price is right. Many a time has the procrastinator lost a good deal.:)

Chatting with the TT travelling marshalls who are each allocated an SP to use privately and at race speeds on closed roads, all suggested that although the SP is a great bike, they wouldn't own one. If they wanted a blade, they felt an earlier model was as good but cheaper. Interestingly, none of them would own a blade themselves. All are former TT racers. All were aware I own a 2017 SP.

So their opinion was buy on price if you want a blade.

Interesting. I wonder if they might have been tainted by the 2017 'road race disasters'? Any clues?

Absolutely not. They loved the bike but felt an earlier bike was better value for money. But none of them would own a Fireblade as it was simply too extreme.

Ah, good on ya. That must be such an amazing experience (discounting the traumatic occurrences of course).

Never had any in all the years I've done either the TT or the Manx thank fook.

Amazing doesn't even begin to describe the TT. Used to be dead against it until I went....

All former racers but now feel a road-going Blade is too extreme?

Does the TT melt your brain so bad it turns you into a GS rider?!
