I also remember a thing regarding the Hyabusa where there is an unwritten rule that no bike will go over 186mph. So indicated 186 in fourth, with fifth and sixth left to go...

    From wikipedia -
"After just over a century of one-upmanship by motorcycle manufacturers, beginning with the 1894–1897 Hildebrand & Wolfmüller, the competition to create the fastest production motorcycle reached a truce, with the arrival of the 1999 Suzuki Hayabusa, that lasted about 8 years.[1][2][3][4] A gentlemen's agreement was made among the major motorcycle manufacturers to limit the speed of their machines to 300 km/h (186 mph), starting with 2000 models.[1][2][5]"

The magazine that posted the last video had gotten hold of the bike back in Feb. They had run the stock bike to trace data for comparison and they reckon the RR-R is just 0.148s slower in 0-1000m dash vs the track only H2R. This was the same circuit they had tried hitting close to 400kph on the H2R but failed to do it. (gps could only manage 360kph).

This (thats where they tested it according to their article and youtube video)
    Untitled-2.jpg

doesnt look at track where you can hit 360kph. So whatever they tried to do was a hoax and their comparison doesnt worth a dime.

The article states they met at the Japan Automobile Research Institute. That track can deffo hit the speeds.

Went to the dealer yesterday and now they reckon the SP version won't be here to early/mid April due to the corona virus!!!
In all honesty I think it's a load of bull and the new blade wasn't destined for these shore until then anyway but March date was there to draw us in and put deposits down in hope!!!
    Anyone else heard anything?

I understand the skepticism, but I can well believe that corona is affecting things.

I haven't heard anything for a while now. I'm assuming an April launch and just waiting for my dealer to let me know when they get them in for test rides.
I've resigned to just carry on and will only speak to the dealer if I don't hear anything by the end of March. Gives me time to clean up my BMW and make it fully "legal" again before the trade in ;) I just have to try and avoid racking up some mileage now that there's some improvement to the weather!

Then the H2R they tested was either nerfed or they are full of Honda bullshit.

The H2R is extremely quick in roll and dash to speed blasts. BUt then again 1km is the slow part any run to speed. Here we have folks routinely running to 200mph+ on the freeways and even a stock (which most here are not, they are all modified to go faster) H2R is very hard to beat.

Honda must have really bribed a lot of folks to come out so strong and so positive for the SC82 that the pendulum has now swung in the opposite direction - the praise is now getting quite hard to believe.

As for the 299kmh, being shown, its not a speed limit thing, it is a speed display thing. Even after modding and top speed restriction (if any) is removed, many bikes still only display 299kmh on the speedo even though the ground speed is much higher.

But just to recap, the new Triple R may be fast, but it is not 300hp H2R fast.

Not so sure about the maths, but isn't 0.15s @ 3000kmh about 10m. 10m is 30 feet. If you lose a race by 30ft then you are not "almost as fast". Just saying.

Is the base Triple R in your dealers show room yet? Or are all the bikes delayed?

This sort of thing was Nigels domain, he was always sent in first to bat against Hondas PR machine. His main tactic was total bombardment wrapped up in Shakespearean monologue.

I was in the dealership today buying a new Triumph. :D

After a quick ask, they said no delays due to Corona as far as they were aware and looking like 6 bikes for April delivery. I didn't ask if they were SPs or standard. The sales guy also said they were up in Bolton for a some training and there was a pre-prod development bike on the dyno producing 223 hp. He did show me a quick video of the run, but I didn't ask if it was a stocker or had been fiddled with or what the dyno was.

What I got told by P&H in Feb is that the first batch is all SPs.

    223rwhp is not stock.
Stock 1000cc normally aspirated 4 cylinder is not going to be developing 223rwhp in street legal form with current tech and fuel.
Not even the supercharged H2SX in street trim is squeezing 223rwhp from 1000cc.
The Honda induced hype around the new model is getting worse than the Corona virus panic.
