Normally get it done a month early but looks like 6 late now! Hopefully get it sorted around Sept? Want to avoid a christmas test time!

Say, my MOT runs out 1st May, if I have the test done 1st Aug, would the MOT expire 01st Jul 2021 or 1st April 2021?

I would personally say you’ll get 12 months from the date it is actually tested. That’s the date it was inspected and passed. At present this is just an amnesty period due to circumstances and can be withdrawn or extended at the gov discretion. They state it’s an extension of your current MOT period but you must keep your vehicle roadworthy.

If you pass within the amnesty period you'll get 12 months from the date of test. If your vehicle is refused a certificate within the amnesty you'll be able to drive/ride away aslong as there were no "dangerous" faults and carry on driving aslong as you are within the amnesty period. Amnesty ends on 30th September. That's my understanding.

The are not many places open at the moment in my area anyway!

Seems your bike mot has also been extended by 6 months. My bike was mot’d last September and is still due this September. Looks like they may be extending mot’s if it is due before the end of August.

Mines now gone back to being due in August. I’d still get mine done. My guy is still open and I’d rather know it was safe :)

Mine is due on the 25th of this month, on checking the Gov site it seems the extension only pops up 3 days before its due.
