I've always felt that if something isn't carbon then making it look like carbon is a bit naff but that's just my prejudice :)

Definitely not powder coating. It chips and cant be touched up, encourages corrosion to propagate underneath and no great range of finish and colour compared to paint. It's ok for garden furniture though.
My red 07 wheels I had done in Rolls Royce midnight green. Looks black on a dull day but changes to a dark green in the sun.

They look really tasty them but for that sort of money is it really worth it for a bit of bling? I don't see the point in carbon wheels myself, yeah they're lighter and will make the bike turn and accelerate quicker etc etc but there's a reason they are banned in Moto gp, and racing in general really..............reliability!! Yes you probably won't put them under the stress a top level racer would @Muffking but ask yourself, what will you gain from them?o_O

Nothing other than the effect, because I'd be going for a carbon film over the original alloys ;)

    oo they're shiny.

Well bottom line is that they will either go in for a powder coat on Friday or I'll wait for a carbon finish as me and a mate are dropping some other parts off at the powder coaters this Friday afternoon.

Who you going to use for powder coating if you go that way? Ironically I'm thinking of going from black to gold.

    Saxilby.
A load of us with CB500's keep going there to get bits blasted and powder coated, so seems a no brainer if I go that route. Usually £35 per bike wheel plus the sprocket carrier.

I think the question should be would you take the chance?
I would stick with the tried n tested bst but still the same outcome mate, best mod you can do to a bike.

So we've had the Rothmans colour scheme with black, white & gold wheels.
Nothing like being decisive is there :D
