Wrist pain

    Hey guys,
    Went for a ride last weekend on blade. It was first decent one with minimal stops. I did over 2.5hours without a break and my left hand/wrist started playing up massively which I've never had before.
    Got to the point it was mega painful pulling clutch in to change gear and ended up trying to stay in 1 gear a back home.
    I've never had this before on any other bike has any one else experienced anything like this?
    I adjusted all the levers for me when I first got my bike.

    To be fair, 2.5 hours is a long stint, especially if it were at low speeds (ie no wind to pull you off the bars a bit).

    For me.. if I am tired, and not gripping the tank or using my core strength properly, I get the same.

    Have you got tank grips? I found they helped me massively - all the weight I was putting through my arms is now in the core.

    You probably just over extended something and caused a bit of soft tissue damage which can hurt like hell. Bit of rest will sort it with some ice and you'll be right. Happens more as you get older I've found.

    I find if I've been off the bike for a while I struggle with pain. But after a few rides out I'm OK. Its like training.

    My wrists are in clip after about 40 mins on one of these things. It generally effects me after a long lay off which I have frequently and seems to be the right wrist mainly. On stops at junctions and traffic lights I do the old circular motion thing to try to alleviate the discomfort.

    I was on a course with i2i last week and one of the first exercises they had us doing was getting the bike (Street Triple) into 6th and then letting go of the bars altogether. I thought the bike would stall but it plodded along at 20mph, just ticking over. Had us doing figure of 8's without touching the bars at any point, you turned just using subtle adjustments in upper body weight.

    The main reason for doing that though was to remind/teach us that you hold on to a bike with your knees. The hands are purely for steering and not holding on, the phrase that stuck with me was that if you're gripping the bars firmer than you'd hold a raw egg you've just taken out of the fridge then it's too much.

    I do forget sometimes though, especially if I've not ridden for a while. Find myself putting too much of my weight on/through the bars and giving me aches and pains, usually as a result of vibration, exacerbated by holding on too tight.

    Clearly he’s a man not going fast anywhere, cos I can tell you from experience if you take yer hands off the bars at around 150, it’s fecking hard to stay on yer bike with just yer knees

    Got easier grips on bike as I hold on with my legs more than my arms

    have you adjusted your clip on angles? i have mile with less angle and more flat as far as stock bars goes, foot peg position makes a massive difference also, i was playing around with position on my rearset last week and the supposively more comfortable position (more forward) ended up making my body stood up in ride and put more pressure in wrist; moved it almost all the way back now to the back and its much better

    Hope you're OK now. Maybe it was just a bad day and something odd just triggered the unusual pain for some reason?
    Hands are very complicated things with lots of joints and nerves - maybe go to the doctors if it happens again

    Had a call from doctor as cant see ours unless a major emergency.
    He thinks ive got ulnar nerve entrapment and I have to try a few things and see how it goes

    Spoke to doctor and he thinks ive got ulner nerve entrapment .
    Could be due to an injury but dont think ive had an injury or way you sleep,posture or just happens lol.
    Have to try changing a few things and see how it goes.
