    Am I that attractive??
With covid doom & gloom and it's risks now well established, I have had to ask people to keep their distance while at the checkout waiting for the customer ahead topay & clear off.
These idiots come up to you bumper to bumper:mad::eek: with total disregard to physical distancing.
MAybe I live in an area populated with dum & stupid people which has now the highest positives in the south west..
I has politely but they just looked surprised.

Any alternative reasonal approach without starting a verbal or physical conflit?

Should the staff back you up and reinforce your request?

Just use the selfscan and that way you don’t have to come into contact with anyone, I just don’t understand why anyone queues in this day and age if that option is available.

Was in Sainos last week when the rescan request come up, lovely lady come across to scan a few items, and when I said sorry all the beer is was trying to nick was in the bag at the bottom of the trolley, she just laughed and said enjoy it, got me thinking how much theft is really going on at present.

I then say well I thought i should tell you as your so close to my arse so obviously trying to shag me I reckon you should know I'd be cheating . every time it's a sorry mate and a few steps back . people are so selfish.

I have been an avid self checkout user since their introduction. Unfortunately my preferred supermarkets lidl (some branches have it but not always in operation) and aldi don't always provide the service. and 95% of the times I do baskets only.

I have thought of using a full size trolley as a buffer zone. But wrongly thought even a total idiot would take on board the comment about "keeping the distance".

farting is a possible altenartive but don't want to gas innocent bystanders:oops:
backpack also useful but a 2m deep one would make it difficult to turn in the aisle:)

I still think supermarket should intervene if there is an issue. What would they do if a customer did not wear a mask?

Supermarket staff share your concerns. You only have to deal with fuckwits occasionally, they have to do it all day long.

    {rant mode on} So 2 of those mask exempt fuckwits decided that they wanted to be in my space today so I had to move away from them to protect myself from the 1:50 (or 1:25 as there were 2 of them). I mean WTF prevents someone from wearing a perfectly breathable mask. And on what level of coincidence would there happen to be two of the fvckers shopping together as a couple without a care for anyone else. They were even wearing the same jumpers. Fvcking retards! {rant mode off}

It's not even just that, they both went out as a pair of maskless fuck nuts when I'm sure one could have done the shopping and they knowingly put themselves and others at risk. But despite this they decided that they needed to to be where I was and were not prepared to wait, leaving me no choice other than to move up the aisle and wait until they'd finished fannying around the items that I was originally looking at! And I very much doubt that I was the only unsuspecting shopper having to make concessions for these cnuts!

Interesting tosee supermarkets finally and with months of delay (in sync with the gov delayed response to anything COVID!! )are waking up to the need of their staff taking a proactive stance with mask & distancing rules.

I know it is a minority (dum & stupid) who are guilty but unfortunately with a virus, even a minority has an unproportional impact on the spread of it

The problem is never as easy as it first seems. I should declare an interest as my wife is an USDAW rep at Tesco.

First, the supermarkets do take the safety of their staff and customers very seriously. Any staff member with any vulnerability was sent home on full pay at the outset of this pandemic. They wouldn't entertain any exceptions to this.

When it comes to customers it is more difficult. Ultimately you need bouncers. But what happens if it gets ugly? To be certain the Police will not be supportive - they don't come out for theft, so....... The Police are more likely to charge the bouncer with assault that deal with the instigator. And where does that leave the supermarket with regard to civil and criminal liability? Ultimately we are paying the price for an overly liberal attitude to life's arse holes.

Finally, supermarket staff endure enough abuse day to day. They seriously don't get paid enough to endure more from threatening people whilst putting themselves at greater risk of contracting Covid.

I do feel for the Supermarket Staff, it's not their job to enforce this against the toe-rags and self entitled prats who will undoubtedly fake their own exception docs. Plod should do these, they want to use Rent-a-Bobby PCSOs for most stuff so they could base them in supermarkets etc.
