    Anyone driven the new one?

Yes the looks don't particularity appeal, but the new Sport Line at least ditches the wing.

It's new car time soon and I've been looking at all sorts. Even looked at the new Yaris but a wait until September is not really going to happen.

Personally not a fan of the present shaped Civic R, have you considered Golf R ? now that's some car.

Yeah they're a bit Marmite, but the one without the wing looks a bit better.

Not a fan of the Golf, especially what I've seen of the MK8. A mate had a MK7.5 and I found it really bland.

Problem is I think the M2 is going to be a difficult act to follow.

lookwise they are one of the ugliest car designs I have seen. However they have amazing perfomance. Shame such a mismatch

Always thought they should do a rapid version of the Yaris, looks interesting

I'm sort of oddly tempted by it.

The cancelled order was someone who'd lost their license. o_O

Hondas are brilliant cars. I've bought new Hondas for over 20 years. Just about everyone has been hassle free. I say just about as we had a CR-V that mysteriously had a flat battery and the fault, if it was a fault, was never identified, and it never did it again. So I suspect a door must've been left open unseen in the garage for a few days.
We have a 67 reg civic (not a type R) and I would have another one tomorrow. I'd also think about the new Type R too, now they removed the hideous rear wing.
A few years we had the equivalent of the Type R, it was a Civic VTi. Great car, the car we have owned the longest. Only reason we got rid was we couldn't see the point in having a performance car where we lived. If you were ever in hurry you still could get there any quicker because of the bobble heads in mini metros.

I had a CRX MK2 many years ago, we ended up getting rid when the sprog was on the way. My wife cried as the new owner drove it away.

I'd considered the R when it came out, but I just don't think I could have lived with that wing.

My wife has an FN2 and it's ok in a go karty way. Had to remove the shit but noisy air filter and exhaust and she likes it a lot now. Pain in the arse to work on though. I've got a GT86 aero and I suspect that the civic is slightly faster but it can't come even vaguely close to the toyota for a rewarding drive.

Used to have a 4th gen prelude SiR VTEC import for a few years. Nice car but never really gelled with the vtec engine. Same with our civic really.

The Yaris looks kinda interesting and in my opinion a lot better looking than the Civic and 0-62 in 5.5 that's pretty impressive.

Mrs Bladey has a 2lt petrol Sirocco which is now 10 yrs old and she'd part with me first. I get to drive it sometimes and have to say it's a great drive as long as you don't look at the consumption gauge. Never missed a beat.

It's definitely the darling of the motoring press at the moment. It's over 100 bhp down on the current motor, but I'm looking for something interesting.

I think the newest gen civic looks great! I know they are a drivers car and it's all about being involved etc but I would prefer an auto which I dont think they do in the type r?

No, no auto with the R or the Yaris. I've got to admit it's one of the considerations. I've had autos for my last 2 cars due to driving (queuing) into and out of the city center.

Probably controversial but I dont know why they make any manual cars these days

Suppose the more electic ones we get the more they naturally become auto anyways.

Yeah I'm not into this thing about it only being a real drivers car unless it's got 3 pedals. The M2's a DCT and it's the best and most involving car I've owned so far.

In fact I'm almost talking myself into keeping it. ;)

There's the odd time where I miss my old 535d auto when I just want to go somewhere and I'm not interested in driving. It was good for towing my track car when I used to do track days. For lighter cars I'd prefer a manual and presumably there are enough people who want them for there to be a demand.

I absolutely hate the sound of those paddle shift boxes when they've put a little back fire in the change. You can't get more needy than that imo.

I think it was Clarkson who said he didn't get manuals in this day and age. It's like buying a TV and putting the remote on the top.

Don't find many sports cars that aren't a DCT these days.
