Thought this would be fun on the lanes. It's a 2006 KTM 950 Supermoto and the sun it out so I'm going out to play.

No, still got that for the green lanes, this is for pissing about on the back roads.

Went out for an hour or so today and it's a very silly bike. Lots of fun.

Three days on I think that this is one of the best bikes I've ridden. So much fun on the back roads.

This was exciting. Tail tidy fell off and wedged itself between the tyre and the hugger.

Cheers. Fortunately it happened at 30 coming in to our village and I was able to pull over to investigate the noise. Thought one of my earplugs had popped out as it was a weird noise.

Anyway, no harm, done. I'll soon wear through the slight ridge in the tyre and have ordered a new tail tidy from amazon. The old one looks exactly like the one I've ordered but I didn't fit the old one. The new one will be put together with plenty of thread lock but this bike vibrates quite a lot so I'll keep an eye on things like this in the future.

All sorted and back on the road again. Had some cheap led indicators that I threw on, fixed the erratic shift light and added a cheap rev counter and away we go. Did about 200 odd miles today by ending up near Bournemouth largely by accident. All the worn grooves in the tyre are work out and gone except for the bigger one in the centre. Doesn't seem to make any difference though.

Could do with more power but it has enough to be fun with the lower gearing. Gearchange is the opposite of slick on occasions. Still huge fun though :)

I’m going to try a 1290 superduke next, a 2014. It didn’t take long to get used to the power of the 950 and the super Moto riding position got wearing so I think that this might be a good alternative.

Certainly don't think you will get bored with 1290 duke.;)

My brother has ridden a lot of different bikes, and he loves his Superduke with Beast Mode, apparently.

I'll use the same thread I think as the title is non-specific. I replaced the 950 with a 1290 superduke. it feels more me I think although I liked the 950 when I got it so you never know until you've spent some time with a bike. The superduke is so light and easy to steer, much more so than the 950 oddly. It feels like there's no mass to it at all and it's incredibly confidence inspiring. It can be a bit wiggly but a lot less so than the 950.

The engine is obviously much more powerful. I did the first 30 miles in rain mode so it pretty much felt like the 950. I did this to get used to the handling as on the test ride I noticed that the throttle is so sensitive it didn't make sense trying to get to grips with it all at the same time. After a bit though I put it in street mode and got full power. After a few miles although it's very sensitive to throttle input it feels great. It's only a problem at slow speeds on crap roads but anything over 40 it feels very smooth as long as you keep your elbows bent.

    Early doors but very happy.

Doesn't carrying that thing make the handling a bit top heavy??

Had a right old flap out of the superduke at the weekend while over taking a line of cars and crossing the cats eyes. Changed the oil in the damper to 15w and it's better but not brilliant. No longer flaps but the steering feels heavier obviously. It's just a simple oil filled damper with a non-adjustable hole in a washer type thing. I have a hyper pro damper on back order.

Still, the late evenings are cool.
