Looks like it's official now, no more petrol only motorbikes from 2035. Which will probably mean manufacturers lineups are going to start looking a lot different over the next 10-15 years.

Anybody planning a final hurrah? Brand new bike to keep forever?

Not planning anything, but then I generally don't. A lot can change in the coming years so I can see the deadline shifting. However, if you still have a petrol bike, I think the problem will become price and availability of petrol.

Until the announce the end of petrol supplies I can’t see there being a huge rush away from the internal combustion engine. They can stop new petrol bikes etc but my car is nearly 11 years old with 120,000 miles on it, so a bike bought in 2035 should be good until 2050 or so.

As I will be retired before 2035 I doubt I'll be able to afford the probable £5+ per litre price of petrol though!

You'd think if usual supply/demand rules apply then petrol should get cheaper not dearer. Providing it doesn't get taxed to death.

Yeah by 2045/50 just as the last of the IC bikes are dissapearing I will no doubt be either on an electric mobility scooter or in an old gits nursing home, so don't really give a shit...
Feel sorry for all the young ones not experiencing an awesome loud exhaust though, but at least no more noise testing track days...
Motorsports will become so boring, just as E sports are already :(

Supply and demand won't come in to it as the Government will just keep upping the taxes to force people away from using it. Look at the price of cigarettes these days.

It will all end up as a giant Scalextric, All cars and bikes are already being fitted with black boxes that tell you everything that the car has done
we are only one step from autonomous cars, the limiting factor is they need to stop people speeding and doing random manoeuvres , This is where the black box comes in next year you will be told every time you break the speed limit.
Ocardo warehouse has just burnt down due to 3 robots crashing, this is the future

Just think ourselves lucky we’ve had the best of it, and those of us that’s been riding since the 70s have had freedoms not available today on bikes and cars, just the fact there were no speed cameras, no congestion charging, not a lot of traffic, etc etc, so we’ve got our memories and lucky for that I feel, just glad I was born when I was.
Tough shit for those that will follow us, but hey, who ever said life was fair ?

Been on the road since the end of the 60s - two strokes, no crash helmets, cross ply tyres, asbestos brakes, leaded petrol, smoked since early teens also worked in aviation, engineering, construction, mining, power generation and rail. currently drive 16 year old V6 turbo diesel 4x4 with 142,000+ miles. I've just reached 68 years today and yes I will probably buy more petrol powered bikes, it's my life and I will live it how I wish!

I believe its internal combustion only that gets binned in 2035 so no doubt they can stick a duracell battery under the seat with a 0.00001watt motor in rhe drive train somewhere and we have a hybrid with a stonking million horsepower IC screaming away.
By the time that is 'old' they will have worked out that carbon footprint of battery only power is horrendous and the recycling difficulties will just mean its easier to continue to mine for the materials from Africa and other poorer nations leaving everything in a massive mess. A different mess to the current one but another mess nonetheless.
IMO hydrogen or synthetic fuels will come to the fore.
And then....I will be dead .....my kids will inherit my bikes and cars and not know what f@@# to do with them :D
