Took the opportunity during the week fly on a British Airways A380 on a short haul service to Frankfurt from Heathrow.

BA are reintroducing the type early December on long haul routes but short haul flights to Frankfurt and Madrid are operating for crew refreshment.

Having never flown on a A380 it was just amazing and beyond expectations, I also took the opportunity to upgrade to business so I was able to use the lounge facilities at Heathrow, something else I had never done.

On board the crew of 21 looked after the 60+ passengers very well their enthusiasm was infectious.

On arrival at Frankfurt the aviation enthusiasts were allowed to visit the flight deck and talk to the flight crew.

Last opportunity to do this trip is the 2nd December, so if you want to experience the A380 book it.

Did you ever fly Concorde? I love aviation but hate flying now, a few Ryanair flights can do that to anyone.

While I agree that looks like fun, it's not the only way (I have a PPL-A myself).

Got to agree with you on that, best flying experience ever and I even have the photographic proof that I drove her as well ;):) (One of the perks of my previous life)

Flew her 3 times and it never got boring.

Still miss her flying over my house twice a day.

I think I might have that beat :D

I had a backseat trip in a Jaguar once upon a time. Again, virtue of a previous life.

That's a very young looking me.

Lucky enough to have flown on the a380 many times and certainly is a nice place to be, I used to have a client who had one as a private plane that I did work for

I managed a trip pleasure flight on Concorde. TBH the passenger cabin was that small I think 3 hours to USA would’ve been too long. But I’m pleased I went on it. A triumph of Anglo French engineering. The Americans have never forgiven us for beating them to it.

I did have but they were lost a long time ago. This was back in the 80's at Greenham Common and pre digital photography. Parents had themn, both now dead and the album lost

Concorde picture is still around though. I will dig it out and see if I can scan it in if I can find a scanner..

Most phones these days have the ability to 'scan' documents via either the native camera app or a third party app.

    Which is fine if you
1 Have a phone connected to the internet. I don't and refuse to.
2 You are competent with IT & technology. Again I am not either.

And I am not going to connect to the internet just to put a picture up....

Anyway, I still have to find it. It was a very long time ago back in the 80's.

I flew a nearly new A380 to Changi Airport many years back on Singapore airlines. I had a 1 year old at the time so had a bassinet seat just behind first class, I think the plane was a few days old, it to this day has to be the best flight I’ve ever had

Agree with you there. I went Air France...(yeah yeah I know but someone's got to) A380 a couple of times. Smooth and quiet. Non of that claustrophobic feeling you get on some aircraft. Got a trip round the cockpit before take off too, all screens and lights, not sure which one was the ABS one.

Knowing Air France the crew on the flight deck probably didn't know where the ABS switch was either.

But joking aside the A380 is a stunning aircraft, how something so big can be so quiet on take off is just amazing and absolutely no sensation of speed.
