How can all these bogus members get in and spoil what used to be a great forum? Surely someone has to accept the application to join? Rob the administrator was last seen 26 December 2024. Nowadays you have to trawl through to find which threads might be genuine. I wonder if it’s worth creating a new forum, which creators of the new forum may even have an interest in its wellbeing.
It's disappointing to see those red flags saying "new message" only to be followed on mine by "ignored member" . how do they get access? Agree with you about the whole scene. Not easy to find someone to create a new forum though. Time and some expertise.
I’m trying to contact a friend of mine. I know he is a moderator on there and he might be able to add me as a moderator. Hopefully he can remember his log in details.
Someone did contact Rob about this but it all went quiet. A few of us volunteered to help out but nothing came of it.
Yes I tried a number of times and via th3 triumph forum admin got a message to rob asking him to log in and set up more staff. He came on, asked for volunteers, people offered and then nothing happened. I’ve tried contacting all the listed staff without joy - even tracked @kpone down to an old work place (from an old post he’d made) but they said he was no longer there and weren’t interested in passing a message on for me.
There was only one moderator left and that was sps, and he hasn't been on for nearly 16 months so basically the forum ain't got no moderators. Maybe we need to post photos of us all posing naked on our blades with Fuck the Ducati/ Triumph Forums painted on our arses that might bring Rob scurrying back to sort the mess out
Just hit Ignore and forget about it. I stopped giving it a second thought once @Lozzy brought up the Ignore feature.
I contacted my friend and he told me what admin he could do on the forum wouldn’t help. Being a moderator doesn’t give you special powers, unfortunately.
But deleting the posts quickly helps. They don't care about us, they just want pointers to their site to be crawled by the google et al bots as that adds 'referenced' ticks to them so they get recommended more. So it is post a link then request a crawl. If the post is gone no tick from the crawler. At the moment we delete nothing so we are free hits. We want a few moderators with an open brief to delete anything suspect and we agree to forgive them a few false positives and suddenly we stop being an easy touch and promote ourselves to 'not worth the effort'.
Agree with @Muffking its just not worth my time even thinking about it. Nothing will change so why bother? Although a more pro active moderator would help which is what they have on the Ducati forum. For example, if say .....a bike is sold in a for sale thread, a moderator will close the thread immediately there are no more posts aloud to that thread. I presume they delete spam shite too as you never see any of it on there!
