Hi, except Mr X ( i don't remember his name sorry , it has his 12 resprung by Maxton ) , did some of your had their 2012 shock resprung and/or revalve for the road ? All the aftermarket i ve tried where fantastics : bike more precise, keep the line at the end of the corner accelerating, but in the opposite, the ride is harsh on bump and rough road and sometimes on the lean angle , i have some confidence issue, i f i don't know the road for example and don't make the suspension in " contraintes " ( i don't know the word in English sorry lol ). So any testimonial?
Right I am now the owner of afore- mentioned Maxton sprung 12 shock. Thanks Colin BR. Firstly I called Maxton who were about as much use as my old 25k mile 08 shock and did nt seem to care a toss when I asked for advice as it's too hard a spring for my weight. But I knew that when I got it and with full kit and work rucksack it's not far off. That said ( so I'm riding on too hard a spring and I have nt had the suspension set up -just up by me on trial and lots of error) it is way better than the 08 but as I've only ridden a standard 12 once and that was on suburban roads it's hard to say if the re-spring is a huge improvement cos it's obviously a little stiff but it's also very smooth thru the Bends and maybe that's a little about confidence. But the wallowing has gone and the tyre wear seems even and drive is good. I recently did a high speed run to the south coast two up and it felt totally planted may better than on the old shock and a reminder of the stiff spring having some benefit. I now feel as if I'm in contact with the Tarmac. The trouble is of course balance- if the front end is less adept than the rear then the bike will feel disjointed and so I have to think about upgrading the front. Hope this helps mate GaryS
