Well guys, had a good day in the garage, I'm not to sure how the pictures will come out, as you can see Ive fitted a HRC copy intake, totally removed the flapper intake and and rest of the kit that goes with it, the change over is very tight, fairing and mudguard had to come off, the radiator had to be dropped off it's hangers and lowerd its also a good time to fit a new set of plugs and new airfilters. Whilst in there I did the pairs mod, removing the top covers piping and air valve, I'm not sure if it makes a difference as i've fitted an O2 eliminator and power commander 5. The removal of the flapper control solonoid and switching made a nice little gap to fit a HID 55w H7R ballast, The light is now fantastic. Fitting the new pads have well improved its stopping power, the old pads where shot and just for good measure the exhaust, I bought the bike 3 weeks ago and it was totally standard, oh and fitted a 43t back sprocket. Just need a good dyno session now The bike makes 2 different noises, at the front all intake noice, it's so much louder, then when you walk to the back obviously the exhaust. I down loaded a map for a Bike with yoshi pipe and flapper mod done so it will be somowhere near but would benifit from the dyno.
Thanks for sharing Tezza, in some instances a picture can speak 1000 words. Hope peeps get some use out of this.
Nice one. Planning on doing the PAIR and flapper removals too, once the summer is over... can I ask a couple of questions? - did you use the blanking plates to completely remove the pair system? If so, how were they to fit? - where did you get that air intake duct? Looks fantastic!
Hey, the blanking plates I bought off ebay £23 delivered from Greece, just made from 4mm alloy plate fairly easy to make in all honesty, once you dig your way down to them its a easy change over but you need to be carefull with the original bolts they are stud locked so you need to work than back and forth. The intake came from Superbike supplies in the US, cost around £160 delivered, bit of a pain to fit, save yourself time and just remove everything that looks to be in the way, once everything is shifted its still tight to get in also where the new intake fits to the base of the airfilters, I had to trim alittle off to make it fit again easy to do. I hope this helps. cheers
Cheers fella, good info. Don't think I'll bother with the air intake, just gonna remove the flapper and associated gubbins. It's the PAIR removal that concerns me most... Iv'e seen the same blanking plates you refer to (from Greece, on Ebay) but the instructions are a little scant. Also, I would have assumed they need a gasket of some sort, but nothing is mentioned... did you use anything?
When you remove the original cover plated with the breather hose there is a rubber seal in the head but which is suppose to be enough but I put a small bead of sealer around the edge as reccomended in a few write up's, I left rhe read valves in the head. What I did find it the cap they send you with the plates does not fit over the pipe in the airbox so you have to make your own blank it's approx 12/14 mm. Theres various tutorials on on youtube which are good to watch.
Just ordered another H7HID for the high beam, cnt cope with the bike having different bulbs, must be my OCD
Now looking out for a Dynojet Ignition Module, if anyone has got one for sale please give me a shout .
Done abit more made a barcket and removed the rear hangers and fit a HID buld in the main beam but you have to cut a flat edge on the base part of the bulb so it can be turned 90 degrees and the return tube it at the bottom.
