A good citrus wash gets of the road film and grime and can be diluted for different strengths throughout the year. All purpose cleaners are pretty crap compared to dedicated products

yes I was looking at a product called surfex hd which can be diluted to different strengths , and it works out cheaper than the stuff I already use . I just wondered if anybody had used this .

Bilt Hamber Sufex HD is very good indeed, Been using it for a couple of years on cars and bikes.
I was so impressed with the first spray bottle of it that I bought a gallon

    Depends what I'm cleaning.
Recently did some big BMW brake calipers that I wanted to paint, used it neat
But for general pre cleaning of the bike 10 - 20 %

Depending on what you're cleaning WD40 then washing it off works for me.
