Changed the coolant tonight for the Evans Waterless stuff. I drained the system a couple of weeks ago, and ran the flush through as per instructions and also drained. Put the Evans stuff in tonight and poored nice and slowly to avoid too much airlocks etc. Once the bike was up to temp (106), the fan came on as per normal, only the fan didn't go off. The fan kept running and the dash kept saying 106/107. I took the radiator cap off and no further air was coming out, and of course no pressure with this stuff. Is this normal for the temp to stay so consistent, or should it have cooled down like normal coolant - just worried that I could have some trapped air, although I doubt it..

Should cool gilesy, did you rev it to try and work any air through? You must have an airlock..

Not really familiar with the running temps of Evans but it should cool down once the fans kick in

The system should be self bleeding to a point but as LC said could be an airlock. Are all hoses and all parts of the rad getting warm?
As well as revving, rock the bike side to side to help the air rise and also vigorously squeeze all the rubber hoses.

As already said "there must be an air lock". Also try squeezing the pipes to try and shift if.

ahh thought as much.. thanks guys. I didn't rev it very hard as it was 9pm and the bike was still inside the garage with the side door open, and with that new Arrow exhaust its a tad on the loud side! Further investigation required tonight then..

You may fine overall temp runs a couple of degrees higher Gilesy but its more stable doesn't fluctuate as much in traffic etc.

forget my comment on self bleeding this only happens if the coolant expands (into the expansion tank) obviously the Evans doesn't do this!

Best way to bleed is with the bike on the side stand, you MUST blip the throttle two or three times to bleed air from the system, the joy of the Evans is you don't have to worry about boil over while doing the run up, it's a big bonus as blades boil over fast with the cap off, Evans does run a few deg hotter and fan trips have been know to be a problem in my case with Ducati, with some bikes you can use tune boy to reprogram the trips so they shut off correctly but not the case with the blade, however the fan should shut them off but it does take longer than normal. I put a little Evans in the expansion bottle just for good measure, Evans does expand a little but nothing like water based coolants. It's good stuff.

just back in from "playing" in the garage. Defoe a little expansion, but as you say Arthur very little all in. The bike is still running a little hot, and the only way I seemed to be able to cool the bike down was to hold the throttle at 3-4k revs and then the battery voltage was back to ~13.5v.. fan must run a little faster with throttle and then the bike cooled. Leave it idling and the battery voltage is dropping to 12.6 with the fan running, and the temp even crept up to 111 before a pooped it and switched it off..

Defo no air in the bike...

although the manual says 3.3lts + 0.4 expansion.. I've only used just under 3ltrs for the bike (judging by the side of the Evans 5ltr container)

    Optimate the Lithuim.

They don't like the cold, however should be ok once fired up, pays to leave the light on for a min or so to warm the battery, then the volts/Amps climb before starting.

Id not panic too much as with no flowing air you may get higher readings than you have noticed before, if you flushed the system with prep it should run up no prob, if you can feel warmth in all hoses and top of rad etc, it should be good.

Id setup a fan to see if you can run the bike around normal temps or take for short test ride.

ok doke.. a few different optimise so will look for the "latest" one.

Flushed the system with the 2ltr bottle of Evens flush so I'm thinking its just needing a blast round the block, -3 DegC here in Aberdeen right now so may have to wait till saturday lunchtime :D
