Exhaust Stud fitting

I know its a stupid question but ...

Do you just screw in finger tight with a bit of anti seize grease (what I think) or do you have to tighten them into the block somehow before fitting the collars ?

Fitting Akra system to the BMW and all the nuts were seized luckily all the posts wound out instead of snapping like the Ducati ones did

Got new posts and nuts but just wanted to check before I crack on and fit them

I always thought it was screw in hand tight and then torque nuts but I could be totally wrong but it's what I've always done .

 

That's what I thought wedgie but then thought that they may need to be tightened and started doubting myself lol

 

I always do it bud like a second opinion ha ha . That's what I done with my zx6r as all posts come out so I copper greased tightened finger tight then torqued up never had a problem while I had it mate . Don't know if Beemer do it differently . Some cars have a female torx on the end so you can torque them up but again rarely ever do

Hand tight with a bit of anti seize grease .. Think the torque is around 11lb.. The springs and flange does the sealing so no need to,tighten really.. I used to tighten them to buggery but it's irrelavnat.. Check your conrod bolts whilst your at it Jamie

 

Pmsl it's a 2010 conrods were 12 onwards I have plenty of other things to worry about though lol

Is that why you fit pipes and springs before you tighten up the nuts ? I was wandering on the blade I didn't have instructions so just fitted the collars torqued up then fitted headers .... I know now that's wrong

Good we can all have a laugh on here, plus if you don't try other stuff how do you really know what's best

Cleaning it to my standards and fitting HM plus SS, PCV, evotech rad and oil cooler covers, gb racing engine covers, MRA screen, Akra racing carbon full system and Metzler K3 tyres

 

Screw two nuts onto the stud, lock the nuts together, use the top nut now locked together to screw the stud into the block, then use two spanners to unlock the nuts and remove, now the stud is in place.

 

Take it you just nip it up rather than 2 white knuckles

 

Yep, anti seize, then to spec ( or just nipped up as said )
