I turned the bike on the other day, the fuel level warning light was on, the milometer was flashing, as it does when the fuel level is critically low, yet I still had around a gallon and a half in the tank. The light would not go out until I filled the tank, just wondered if anyone has a fault like this?
There's your problem buddy, the world as moved on, you have confused your bike by filling it with gallons, it was designed for litre petrol.
Jeez here's me thinking I've got a fault... really you think I'm daft the fuel warning does not come on when there's sufficient fuel. The warning light comes on only when you are down to about 2 litres. I thought perhaps a sensible answer from an educated forum would ensue. Doh..
1.5 gallons is actually 6.8 litres and so I doubt it should be triggering the low fuel warning. Question is how sure are you of the amount of fuel in the tank? PS A gentle bit of mickey taking/humour is only to be expected. If this site was just facts it would be boring
If you want to get techy, then without fail my fuel warning comes on at 12.8 litres or in your money, 2.8 Imperial gallons. The quoted tank size is 17.7l or 3.88 Imp galls, but I have put in just over 18 before, so at 5.3l or 1.16 Imp galls is about the right calculation for my 2104 with the tank brimmed. So if you have a Imp gallon and a half (assuming you guessed this, rather than drained and measured it) , that's around 6.84l, but if you are an American cousin then that would be 5.7l to your smaller gallon and half or 6 quarts as they say, so we ain't a million miles (or 1609344 kms) away are we? Hope that clears any frippery up.
