I got some r&g bar ends to replace the standard ones and wondered if there was a special way of getting the old ones out as the bar end spins with the screw and cant turn the screw without the bar end spinning any help would be appreciated
On the clutch side if you roll back the grip there is a hole top and bottom that you can use to remove the bar weight. Once out you can use pliers/grips or a vice to hold it whilst you unscrew the end.
Spot on cheers for that at least if I get one side out ill have an idea of what the problem is with the other
Can I ask why you are changing the bar ends? Is it to stop vibration? I have a problem with vibes on my bike and wondered if different bar ends would help.
They are a pain in the backside. As previously said pull the grips back to reveal the top n bottom hole.If your tabs that locate in the holes are flattened you need to wedge something in there to stop it from spinning whilst turning the screw.Getting the bar weights out and put back in are just as bad to do.
Thanks for all the info will give it a go later and see how it goes Madmac im just changing them to ones that look a bit better than standard ones dont think they have any effect on the bike just cosmetic
Ok managed to get the left one changed just need to try the right tomorrow when its not dark Madmac I noticed that when I got it out there was 2 rubber bushes to stop the bar inside vibrating too much so if your are worn or perished then that might explain the vibrations
