Bought this HID kit a while ago.

I had it fitted and working however there were a few bits I didn't like about it. I had the ballast units behind the fairings and this meant that to replace a bulb I would have to remove the fairings due to the length of the lead to the connectors. Also the kit just uses a couple of spade terminals to plug into the existing loom socket, doesn't look good and is not waterproof or secure.

So 2 things to do today. First was to make the connection to the loom secure and waterproof, and so a while ago I got some of these H4 extension leads to give me the required connectors.

The plug has 3 connectors and the loom only had 2 so I removed the extra connector. A simple case of using a small screwdriver to flatten the lug on the terminal and removing the terminal.

    Screwdriver down slot.

    Lug you are flattening.

    How it looks when removed.

Cable should now look like this

On the opposite end of the cable, the one with 3 wires still connected, cut the blue and black wires.

Discard the end with the white cable.

Cut the spade terminals off the HID cable, solder in the new plug. On an 07 the "all black wire" on the oem socket is the negative/common and luckily this mates up with the black wire on the new plug. and then connect the newly soldered plug into the original socket. I routed the cable up the left hand side of the headlight and behind the bracket, bringing it out between the two light units. Use a cable tie through the empty slot to help ensure it stays connected, not absolutely necessary but I like things being secure, after all why risk a light going out for the sake of a cheap plastic strip.

You can then hide the connector, I put it between the headlights in front of the horn.

PT 2 to come in next post

The next job was simple. Extend the cable that connects to the HID bulbs so that the bulb can be removed without having to remove the fairings

Cut red and black wires that have the connectors for the bulb here.

Extend the cables you have just cut off.

Connect the new cable to the original cable.

Route the cable and plug in to the bulbs, I ran it up the outside edge of the headlight and behind the dash. I used the sheath from the H4 adaptor cable to help disguise the cable.

Now if I want to change or replace the bulb the fairings don't have to come off :)
