Yep, totally... I know things can be a little more pricey down South, but it's taking the mick... rang my local motorcycle garage and he reckons £120 labour, with the seals on top of that (not that I would let him touch my bike with a barge pole, but that's another matter...)

A mate runs a racing team, RCExpress Racing, so have messaged him for advice on local "good guys" to use.

Are you thinking of JHS? I think they were in Kingswood, but have moved out to Keynsham... they have quoted £180, and I was very impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the person I spoke to.

Found 'em - Morpheus Motorcycles, Unit 11, 217-227 Two Mile Hill Road, Kingswood, Bristol, BS15 1AZ

Never used them but I did hear lots of good things about them.

Here's a list from Yell of other bike repairers if it helps.

Well, things aren't great. Went with JHS in the end, as they can definetely return the forks within 2 weeks.

Ran them up there today... the left-hand stanchion has a couple of corrosion spots... like the point of a needle pricking every so slightly off the surface of the chrome. Needless to say, it is these spots that have ripped the oil seal to shreds.

Given that any attempt at repair would only be very temporary, have opted for a new stanchion. So, the job has ballooned to:
    - supply new stanchion
    - supply new seals, bushes/sliders, fluids
    - remove old stanchion from fork bottom, and insert new one
    - service forks

    A whopping £340.

Can't believe the stanchion is corroded on a 6.5 year old blade... could this be due to poor maintenance/cleaning?

Got my forks back from JHS Racing today :D

New stanchion fitted on the knackered fork, along with new bushes, seals and oil all round. I've been very impressed by JHS... they've been knowledgeable, honest, and friendly... the mechanic has even offered to set up the forks for free if I take a ride over there on a Saturday morning!

Now I've just got to put it all back together again
