Now I would love to do that but have too much booked already.

Just out of interest how far is it?

From Teeside just getting out the UK is a trek - unless you have loads of time I'd fly to Barcelona and get a hire car!

From the overnight Portsmouth ferry you would dock at about 07:00 and even without going mad and mixing peage and D roads you would be in the foothills of the Pyrenees to overnight on the French side somewhere like Lourdes that night, then next day over Pyrenees and down to Aragon - so Wed night ferry, Thur and Fri to get to track. Sat and Sunday at GP,

Then I guess you could just about get back over to the French side of the Pyrenees on the Sunday after the race. Monday ride back up through France for the night boat back to Portsmouth, Tue early am dock in Portsmouth - that's about the quickest I reckon you can do it - the long boat to Santander is other option I guess

You make it sound like hard work lol ;)
I was working out the fuel cost earlier, going on an average of 50mpg at about £6 a gallon is roughly £300 for fuel, plus Chunnel or ferry costs and hotels puts the trip around £600 that's without the entry fees.

Kinda puts a dampener on the idea doesn't it !!!

It seemed like a good idea for an adventure at the time.

Guess it looks like it's going to be a cheap flight down as you suggest.

Add hotels, tolls, food and drink travelling each way and it makes little financial sense, but with enough time to enjoy it each way would be great trip.

I'm planning on doing Mugello next year. Sharing hotels with a mate we had a budget of £100 each a day for fuel, food and digs. That included the ferry too so our 11 day trip cost £1,100 but we ate like kings, had nice hotels and the best adventure ever.

It's the adventure part that I am more interested in, the MotoGP is the point to aim for, giving the journey a purpose.
The cost isn't really an issue to be honest, as it's a 6 day holiday really.
I guess I'll have to have a bit of a think

The trip I did a few years ago to Mugello via the alps was an epic / awesome thing to do, but took 2 weeks as we felt if you have to have 3 or 4 days off work in each of the weeks may as well go for 2.

Meant we could enjoy the route down and try and avoid motorways. I would love to ride to Mugello, but have bike transported back and fly home

Also agree great to have an event to head to / aim for as purpose of trip.
