Had an opportunity to use the puncture repair kit that has been tucked away in the tail of the Blade and had not seen the light of day in years.

Just leaving the house I saw a few bikes go by, caught up with them on the road to Strathaven and we all pulled up at a set of lights.

Realised as we were sitting waiting for the green that the guy on the ZX6 was trying to get the attention of the 899 Panigale in front of him and as the lights changed they all pulled over to the side of the road. I gave a wave and headed up to the garage for petrol.

Short blast later to heat the tyres properly I was coming back into Strathaven to take a proper run out the A71 and noticed the guys all still parked up… they waved for me to pull over as I approached.

Turned out that as they were sitting at the lights one of the guys notice a large screw in the rear tyre of the 899 (really nice bike btw). They were now looking for a place to get it repaired, or a new tyre, as they were on their way to Manchester.

Not much chance of finding help on a Sunday so I said I’d give it a go at repairing if they wanted. They followed be up to the Garage and after re-figuring out how the tool worked, which took me a while, we eventually got it fixed.

Got to say that, although it took a while, all the lads were impressed with the repair and are now planning on getting the same kit. I was just glad that after carrying it around all the time I got a chance to put it to use.

So anyway the up-shot of this post is just to say that after seeing many different roadside repair kits and repair attempts of varying success this one actually works and works well.

Kudos to the “Stop & Go Tyre Plugger Kit”

Looks awesome, may well invest in one of these after getting a puncture on Friday and was lucky myself not to get stranded, I have AA cover but waiting for them can be a pain in itself.

Does anyone know if the AA will repair or replace motorbike tyres on the side of the road??

Found this kit on eBay together with 4 x co2 canisters which they say will do a motorcycle rear tyre, great stuff :)

I have the very same kit, fortunately only used it once, the first plug which was put in still leaked but after a second plug was fitted it was fine and lasted the life of the tyre.

Carry the same kit but have never used it at the roadside yet, hopefully never have to.
Last time I had new tyres fitted I asked for the front back so I could have a practice fitting the plugs, great piece of kit and well worth carrying at all times.
