Went shopping which I bloody loathe.
Looked in the magazine aisle then just about to walk down the elevator when some bloke walked up who I've known for years. Good old Shane Byrne. I've not had the chance to speak to him for 8 years. We shook hands and recalled the last time we spoke in my shop.He asked about some of the old school mates I know.He said 3 rounds to go and thats it no more BSB.I asked what would he like to do next motogp again? nope unless a competitive bike which won't happen.CRT no way.He wants to have a crack at WSB if he can get a decent bike.Preferbly a Kwaka as he already knows what it is capable of.WSB is more local than motogp so its that or nothing else.
I told him I've gone back to bikes and riding a blade and the look he gave was a picture. He is at Brands this coming week practice wednesday he thinks.Shame it ain't thursday when us other kent boys are there.we shook hands and off he went with the wife n kid en-tow.Made my day.

Outstanding mate. Didn't realise you rub shoulders with the gods. I'll be asking for your autograph soon.

Cool. Would love to meet him. He seems such a genuine down to earth bloke. Like someone you'd start chatting to on a ride out. Really rooting for him to win the title again this year.

He hasn't changed at all, wouldn't surprise me if he popped into Colwin motorcycles where he worked as a teaboy,parts/workshop hand.Thats where he went past my old shop on the back wheel of an EXUP(customers bike at 16yrs old).John who now owns it gave him Shakey his first shot at racing.Great fella.
