Hi There, I bought a Spidi Hydroback Sport drinks pouch ( £24,99) and 'sport straw' (£17.98) (delivered to a UK address) as I’m riding & racing in Thailand which can be quite hot at times…. I haven’t yet been able to use it, mainly due to work getting in the way and secondly, I haven’t quite figured out how it ‘works’. I’ve attached photos of all the parts that I received. As you can see the ‘sport straw’ is simply an open tube with black cap. I first thought that the black cap had small holes in the end, but it was in fact solid and not perforated. I think that if the 'sport straw' is simply an open ended tube, all the drink will come out when riding. Please can you help me by explaining how it is meant to work, and also if you have any tips for mounting straw on ( or through) the helmet. Thanks & Hope you can help.
Looks similar to the camelbak system, the black mouth piece usually is what they call a bite valve it should have a small slit that will open when bitten the tube I would mount under your helmet strap to hold in place
That's what I thought at first, but no matter how I sucked & bit the darn thing, no holes appeared. For something so relatively expensive for what it is, you'd think it would be a bit more straight forward.
Daft question but is the black thing just a travel cap/protector? Maybe the bite valve is missing or you need to buy one separately. Edit - Just did a quick Google and looks like you do need another bit. http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/91892
Thanks - possibly, the black thing may just the protector. I bought the two items - the water pouch and the straw. After paying that much, I don't think I should have to hunt around to buy something extra to make it work. Sportsbikeshop.co.uk - I bought this from you guys - any comments ?
He's already got that attached! Sometimes you have to just put a very small slit in the bite valve yourself
