Finally got the new blade on track for the first time last night at Snetterton. If I'm honest I haven't been *entirely* convinced with it on the road (I might actually prefer my RR6 ) but on track it was a revelation.

The RR6 is like wrestling a grizzly that might bite your head off at any time in comparison. Whereas the SP is so quick to turn in, light through the corners, so gentle on the throttle - and the quickshifter and slipper clutch make a MASSIVE difference to just giving you less to worry about. Because let's be honest, there's enough to worry about already.

Still need to work out where to set the electronics - was running P2 T5 W2 EB3 and Ron Haslam's FR/RR setup (as per a Bennetts article) and I still had some loose bottom action on the final corner before the back straight. Surprising with T at 5. Lots of orange light action but mostly wheelie control kicking in I think.

Anyway, it was first time on track with the bike and not been on track at all since last year so I was going gently, but I still managed to find neutral twice (changing 4th - 5th) at the end of both straights on the same lap. Was it a false neutral, or had I just not properly engaged the shifter?

Bike is standard and on the correct size tyres. No rolling radius jiggery pokery. But obviously the bikes are *famous* for it. I made more of an effort to properly flick the lever the remaining sessions and it didn't happen again. But it does play on your mind a bit. Because finding yourself in neutral at 150mph+ well into a braking zone isn't good for one's anxiety.:D

Link here - first at 0.10 and second at 1.45. (And yes, I fumble 3rd-4th just before the false neutral so I probably was a bit sloppy with the old left toe)

I had a few gear shift issues at first and I'm sure it was my crap or lazy left foot action. I spent ages adjusting and re-adsjusting the gear lever position until it was really comfortable and I've had very few problems since. If its comfortable it makes changing easier and more positive though I did also have to increase the QS resistance in the settings too.
    My current ride settings are p1 t3 w2( I think) EB3
Tried EB1 and just kept running wide and scaring myself so went back to 3 where I'm.happy.
Glad your enjoying the track action

Thanks Paul. I'd not gone for P1 as I found it snatchy from throttle off position on the road, but maybe on track it's OK? I'll give it a whirl next time out. Also went for the engine braking that most closely matched the RR6, having a lot of it is good for lazy coasting riders like me :D

Check your chain tension, too tight and it can cause you shift problems.

I run the QS on its most sensitive setting and have no problem.

    Upvote for check chain tension.

And if you are relying on quickshifter for the upshift keep the little sausages well away from the clutch lever. If that clutch switch is activated the QS will be disabled.
If you are counting on the Autoblipper for downshifts from speed then the throttle must be completely shut to work properly.

If you saw a [-] in the gear position display then that was the QS being disabled for that shift.
Unless your gearbox is buggered you wont be experiencing any false neutral, it will be the QS/AB being momentarily disabled.

    *edit*
I also meant to add that the QS Up and Down shift adjustments in the dash menus are shift sensitivity settings that are related to how much you preload the gear pedal (Quick Shift, Shift Shaft Sensor) BEFORE the up or downshift.

The system is using your pedal movement as advance notice of your next anticipated shift. The stock QS unit is not a load cell, but rather uses movement passed a Hall sensor.

I think all the blades gearboxes are supplied with a number of false neutrals inside, Once you have used them all up you will be ok.
I have fitted bearings on the shift lever pivot and the support mod going into the box. I have never had a bike before hit these like the blade .
one time overtaking on a sweeping bend,
from previous experience I will not try to put back into gear as it sounds like it is going to strip gears
I have not had any for about 3 years now 9k on the bike now, 700 when I bought it
