when i made claims for lids they just asked me for a quote to replace it. Phoned up a shop that stocked it and paid them £5 for a quote that they posted to me. If you buy the replacement off them they usually charge you £5 less when you buy it.

Proof of purchase should be the lid itself or photos of you wearing it. Otherwise, did you buy it on Credit/debit card? If so you should be able to trace it back.

My claim they asked for receipts but I didn't have any, some of the stuff I didn't even have anymore as it was cut off me in the road, I still got paid out its just a way of putting you off. If you still have the gear that's good enough.

One thing you need to remember is even if you still have recipts it's not the amount of money you paid for the items you are claiming for its however much it will cost to replace it now with an identical or equivalent model now, prices go up with inflation, you could of bought while on offer etc so recipt isn't much help in that situation.
    Just remember your the victim

Not from my experience. An estimate detailing how much it will cost to replace the damaged items at current prices is all that's required.

Right so the story goes - in Jan 2010 i had an accident, broke afew bones as you do!

Claim on going since, and 4 months ago the MIB offered an amount - this amount was told to me verbally by my solicitor - he thinks should be more so we waited for the xrays to come from the hospital and then go to the consultants who is reviewing my case...he reviewed and wrote back his findings.

I need to now sign the statement and send it back to the solicitors who will send it to the MIB asking for more money..

    On the sheet it says:

Do i want to claim for losses - it does not state include receipts or quotes - maybe this will be requested for later?

So i have pop down new lid: £500 estimated
    Jacket: £200 estimated

    etc...

Claiming from the MIB is shit. I Had to do it for a hit and run and even after submitting quotes for both clothing and bike repairs, I didn't get a penny for either. All I was able to claim for was personal injury.

Before i sign the line and send back i have asked these questions as suggested...just so i have something in writing..

how much commision do these no win no fee lawyers take it they win!?

Can you please advise on the below:

    1. Please confirm the original settlement figure from the MIB.
    2. How much of an increase do you feel they will offer once they get the report? Is it a number you request for or they offer a new amount?
    3. What is the percentage of commission \ charge you will take from the settlement figure?
    4. How much you estimate I will get after your commissions \ charges?

Hope to hear from you soon.
