Well after 2 weeks of going to oulton park to watch both bikes and car track days , I have booked on this Friday 8th at oulton park. Weather looks good. Anyone else going ? Any advise apart from not racing the guy in front ?i need to keep saying this to myself.
Cover your speedo up, work off engine revs. Fold your mirrors in, you don't need em. Drink plenty of fluids and eat as well, inbetween sessions. Don't be afraid to ask anyone for advice. ENJOY IT ..... Its mega fun but you will be knackered at the end of the day.
Update on my track day wow where do i start ,no limits who organised it were brilliant, the weather was perfect and i cant wait until my next one.Once i had sussed out which gear was best for which corner it was a case of building my speed up lap by lap which at the end of the day i felt i had learnt so much,The bike was a joy to drive on the straights the 1000rr was awesome and once the tyres were up to temp it stuck like shit round the corners, the front end was coming up at some points of the track doing 100- 120mph+ which shit me up a bit as its the first time i have really give the bike a good thrashing The next think on my shopping list is a Hm quick shifter as i can really see the benifit of having one if i want to do more track days. The thing that i was most chuffed about on the day though was "i got my knee out and got good contact with the tarmac, now that was a bloody good feeling ,if i had a bottle of bubbly back at the paddock i would of cracked it open. I also met barney who took some pictures of me ,just hope they were not when i run wide a few times . A few wifes were there which is a big no for me ,as if she saw some of the speeds i was doing she would be waving the black flag at me not the marshall. What i will say though is what a fantasic machine the 1000rr is and i look forward to the next time i ride it on the road but most of all on the track as thats where it belongs.
Glad you enjoyed the day mate. I've only been on track once and loved it. I'm a bit apprehensive about taking the blade on track though, as I'd be gutted if I binned it. Still never had my knee down, and I can only imagine how that felt
Hi glad you enjoyed it mate , I'll post a few pictures up later on , Seems I was on my way back from hospital thought it rude not to turn up and say hello , you rode the bike well , nice one
Hi Colinbr I was a bit worried about binning the bike at the start but once Mr Adrenaline kicks in its amazing how quickly you forget about that, plus I was amazed our sticky the tyres are once they are up to temp as I have never had them that hot before ,and with the way the cbr handles I never felt I had a problem as long as I rode to my own ability and not the rider in front .
You rode good Jason , golden rule never race the guy in front Stay to your own limits , pictures on way
Wow fantastic pictures Barney even my mrs said look at you with your knee out.thanks very much Barney I owe you a pint .
