My mate has recently bought a 2007 blade and for some reason it won't go over 110mph and struggle to over 8000rpm. Any idea what it could be before it gets taken away for two weeks to be fixed by dealership he bought it from?

UK bike, can't see a restricter/limiter on it and the gearing is standard.

Is the bike bogging down or is it just coming not revving any higher?

Sounds like a restrict or kit bit could be way off. Mechanic should be able to figure out pretty handy if that's it anyway

It just runs out of steam after 8000rpm and struggles from that point onwards.

Is it a standard exhaust mate? I'm thinking along the lines of a seized exhaust flapper.

Colin could be on the ball, also cat could be blocked! Depending on how the bikes been used its possible the cat is clogged up...hard to check without an inspection device or another set of headers.

When my 600 was restricted to 33bhp it did the exact same things as your mates bike. just died at 8k and topped out around 100-110. But i would think a 1000cc would bog down around 5k because of the higher power. my 33bhp kit was 4 washers in the inlet's

It's a Repsol, which probably explains the problem. :D I'll tell him to paint it black and it will sort the issue. ;)
