hello folks . quick hello , just bought a 09 repsol rep after upgrading from a gsxr600 k1. great bike except pain in the ass to start when hot . :( still finding my feet on it but it feels sooo much better than the little old gixxer.

thanks guys . often go for a blast through mid wales with a few mates there all gixer riders . thought id be differnt as i have allways liked hondas since owning a vfr 400 nc24 many yrs ago. only issuies i have have is poor starting when hot , just keeps turning over and not firing . might be me yet though as i have only had the bike afew weeks and allways used to give the gixxer a bit of throttle to start . this machine doent seem to like it.

Yeah mine fires up instantly . Remember the 08+ bikes crank slowly and sound like that battery is low.

Don't give it gas cos it sounds like it is struggling as its meant to sound that way.

You should have no problems starting when hot . Is it from a dealer ? Can you get it looked at under warranty or is it from a private seller ?

Yeah, mate letting the computer sort out the throttle setting at start up is a good habit to get. A lesson I learned from Italian carbs. I poke the button like I'm ringing a doorbell these days.

no it was a private deal. but 1 owner and full service just done at a main dealer . i think it may just be me and my itchy throttle hand . ill let you know how i get on .

i was actually thought the battery was dodgy with the slow cranking it all most sounds like a mates ducati 916 starting up with the slowturnover. saying that i connected it to my optimate today after a week in the shed cos i been on hols and it only was on the charge light for about 2minuites before it went to maintain .

Yeah i though mine was shot but it always starts after a few cranks . I will try starting mine tomorrow with a bit of throttle and if mine is a bitch to start doing that then problem solved .
If it still starts no problem thou it might be worth getting it checked over

    Hi an welcome!

Mine has trouble starting due to the battery after over a week. I guess its due to the tiny battery these bikes have.
