my rookie attempt at fitting the scottoiler to the 2011 repsol blade.
Heres a couple of pics of how I fitted the scottoiler onto the swingarm of my bike mate. Basically I used a longer screw in my paddock stand bobbin so that the screw came through the back of the mounting point, and then used a nut on the back end of the screw with the bracketry that comes with the scottoiler. Hope this helps.
Thanks very much matey, that helps a lot. I didnt get one of those little drilled metal brackets! that makes all the difference as it sit further back. Nice one, thanks very much as soon as I get rid of standard honda sprocket Ill give that a try. Cheers
I'll check to see if I have 1 here mate as I bought another kit for my blackbird. If not I'll make 1 at work and send it to you.
I would like to reopen my thread, thought id spray some of the road grime and nastiness of me repsol today. WTF!! My chain has rust!! to say im not impressed is an understatement. I spent ages installing this bloody thing and check every weekend that the oil is topped up. Ok, I admit i missed a clean last weekend due to shity weather, but I cant believ my 5 month old chain has rust after a few weeks just because this bloomin thing has decided to not work. to be honest im not sure why its stopped, blocked nozzle, duff vacuum....Ive lost all confidence in this device on the New blade. Ive resorted to spraying my now rusty chain with castrol chain wax to protect it during the wet stuff. Just wwanted a rant and let you guys know before you consider one.
Ran 1 for 4 years with no probs on 3 bikes. Is it possible you let it empty the tank and let air into the tubes and then for it to freeze due to condensation/sweating?
Not had any issues on the 929 with the chain rusting, it has run dry a couple of times due to me not keeping it topped up. Just a thought around the chain rusting, did you wipe it over with a rag with oil on after cleaning the chain?
thanks for the comments guys! I really wished it was one of these but I did both, filled up reservoir then primed it using the bottle , it was running for ages (you can tell by state of back wheel tbh) And Dave yep when first installed the oiler, cleaned all wax off chain then gave the chain a good smearing all over as it said it would help spread the dripped oil. Maybe I just didnt put enough on and the rain/shit and usage has washed it off ?? Im shocked to be honest this thing was running fine for years on me 97RRV. il stick with the chain lube for the week until i can look at it at the weekend (too dark by the time i get home these days)
My brothers spent more time lubing up the rear tyre so we got rid lol, I have never been keen on them to be honest
I ran one on my SV for 3 years and only thing I did was really clean the chain once a year just before it went in for winter hibernation. I cleaned the chain and then sprayed a coating of wurth chain wax on outer plates and then let the oiler do its thing and it kept the chain clean and rust free till next clean. just made sure I kept the res topped up and checked the flow rate bout once a month as the so called summer temps changed. I also use a compressor to dry the chain and nooks and crannies after washing, I just make sure air gun doesnt get too close and never had any problems. Hope you get it resolved soon bud.
