I’m think of getting the valve clearances checked on my 2008 model CBR1000RR. I ideally would like a dealer to do it, but my original dealer in Derby closed down, so did the next one in Nottingham and the next nearest one in Tamworth won’t work on bikes over 10 years old and the next nearest one in Newcastle under Lyne won’t work on pre-2010 bikes…. So maybe I need to go to an independent? Does anyone have any experience of getting valves checked in the approximate area of Derby? Any advice much appreciated. Please don’t suggest that I try to do it myself!
Good luck in finding someone/someone being suggested by a forum member. I want to get mine (it’ll be 10 years old and at nearly 16k) done over this winter along with getting the forks serviced. I’m hoping someone not a million miles away who has done this before on his will help - once the forks are off I plan on taking them to KAIS in Atherton. That should allow the radiator to be released from its mounts and slung forward giving easier access to the shims for checking and if needs be replacing.
