Anyone run the pilot road 3's on their blade? Getting good reviews. I know they are more of a sport touring tyre but like the sound of their wet performance and how long they last. My mate had 11000 miles out of his last set on his GSXR 1000!!
Had on my rr7 great in the wet did 3000 mile on them before I sold her and still looked like new Great tyre would defo have again
I have the pr3's. Very nice. Good at everything. I see loads of sports bikes with them on. Very distinctive. Not that that should be a reason to buy them. I'd buy them again.
I personally use the pilot power the more sport orientated tyre but just like the roads they too are a great wet tyre but totally pointless having if you have large chicken strips as up to the last 2 inches of rubber they are the same as pilot roads.
They are good but they don't last like the roads do! I had them on my r1 and te rear only did about 2500 miles and it was done!
i got the same out of my rear 2ct on the rr5,had about 3.5k on the rear pr3 when i sold the bike but the tyre still had plenty left
my bro is getting about 2.5k from his pilot roads im lucky I have ever seen more than 1.7k from a rear but then I put this down to running a low pressure of 34psi. it was a Michelin rep told me the rubber was the same in the middle.
I had power pures on, got a nail in front that could not plug, and put a road 3 on the front, and it is really good in wet, tips in nice and smooth, when the power pure rear runs out I will put a road 2 rear as the road 3 rear will not plug if you get a puncture due to the construction, that's what I was told by guys at FWR in Kennington...
It depends on your useage like any tyre. I do a 400 mile a week commute in all conditions 12 months a year.. IMO these are the best Pilots by far for foul weather conditions. Having used all previous versions of Pilots for more years than I can count, in day to day commuting, on wet or very wet roads, or sub zero temps, slush and even light snow, they bite in and grip, quick warm up for confidence, very little tread squirm under hard braking, even though the tread depth is deeper than normal. On dry roads they perform as well as any sports tyre within the limits you can ride legalish. The wear rate is the best I have seen on any Pilot, keeping their profile better, my commute is a mix of country lane, A road and motorway so they sit upright probably for 60 mile a day on the motorway and are not flatting off like other tyres.
i have these piolt road 3 and done 2k hard acceleration down the straights they do take ages to get warm to get the feel threw the bends but my rear tyre is still like new and i use every horse power i got to blow my mates bussa and gikker 1k away
