Have changed oil in blade (09) but can I work out the level can I fook!!

Have followed the books instructions ie level ground, run for 3-5 mins, leave off for 2-3 mins and check.

Getting a different level each time originally over the upper mark (put in just under 3lts as didn't do filter) now under after taking a bit out but never the same reading.

How does anyone else check? Will I be ok checking it in 20 mins seeing where it is or will that be too long?

I always put it up on both paddock stands so the current wife doesn't have to hold the bike (I always hung onto it as-well  ) and check it as the book says... the RR6 that i had with the window was much easier!

As long as its between the halfway and upper I'm happy.

If you're getting different readings then the Oil is not hot enough and is slow draining back down, that or just leave it longer till you measure to give it time to settle.

I just leave the bike 10 mins after riding it, stick a car wheel chock under the side stand to get it upright and follow the instructions. Gets it close enough.

i'm known to talk rubbish so feel free to ignore, but the oil level can differ on each side of the dipstick, not a lot, but certainly 5 mm or so. I tend to put the dipstick in and then rotate a full turn anti-clockwise to "level" the level. I've always done 4 mins run (which typically gets it to an indicated 70 odd degrees) 3 mins rest, then upright rested againts my left leg whilst i check. I also think a few degrees off of upright can make a few mm diff on the dipstick too.
