Mate, thats old school!!! and Bob Heath must be about 150 years old now.

My first lid had a Bob Heath visor with 4 press studs to hold it on, it was given to me by a bloke that lived opposite who was built like a rugby prop, was nearly able to do a 360 on my head when my Fizzy hit 50 :D

Got stopped for black visor by north yorks years back and given a pair of 99p sunglasses, go figure.

I now use a light reactive pinlock insert that goes dark in sunshine. Think it's called pro-tec or something like that.

Black and irridium visors for foreign trips where nobody bothers about it.

Dark tint 90% of the time. Up here in sunny sunny Scotland I've never had any problems with the Police about it, even when stopped for spot checks or whatever.

I use extremely dark race visors from "The Visorshop. com" but always carry a clear visor in case of weather change or plod. He's got to be a complete moron to book me knowing I'm carrying a clear visor and I'd have no problem telling him so! It's my life and I'll protect it how I see fit and no plod is going to tell me otherwise especially when he's following guidelines and not common sense! ...........rant over

Clear mainly, but smoked when it's a guaranteed sunny day.
I used to wear Iridium in all weathers during the day, but it scratched to feck over time.

I never carry a spare, but probably will to Scotland.

    Visor Law

Unlike helmets wearing a visor or goggles isn't a legal requirement but as soon as you use one a whole new bunch of rules apply to you.

    Legally

    1) It must be an approved visor / goggle It'll either have a BS4110 mark or the new EC Regulation 22 type 05 mark.

    2) A 50% tint is the darkest you're allowed by law and even then it will be marked "for daylight use only". Dark, mirrored etc. visors are illegal, wear sunglasses instead.

A genuine Shoei dark one with pinlock, but I only ever ride during day light in the summer. On the one occasion I did get caught out by a summer down pour last year and the dark visor was brilliant at cutting down the glare from the wet roads when the sun came back out. I do have a clear one which I would use if I ever planned to ride after dark, which I don't.

Today is officially the start of summer in London. 1st commute since October with a black visor and just a T shirt under my jacket :D So much better than looking like Mr Blobby with half a dozen fleeces on.

Always carry a clear in my racksack if I work late or have to plead my case...which is very rare in this neck of the woods

As long as it's not overcast or dark i'll wear my mirror or dark visor on my Shark lid most of the time. never been a issue using a dark visor for years. I have taken a clear visor if I felt I was going to come back later than expected and just put it under my leathers on my side. you don't know it's there when I do this

Eee when I were a lad I remember watching Mad Max and thinking got to get me one of those mirrored visors. I bought some mirrored film from a custom car shop and spent ages putting the stuff on my visor with soapy water and a Vee wipe. Did I look a bobby dazzler, mirrored visor on my silver Simpson helmet (cost a fortune then, probably still paying for it)? If it rained I could look even cooler by putting on my Silver (100% waterproof) Motomod suit.
