I hope some of you O.C.D clean freaks out there can give me some pointers here.

What should i use to clean my downpipes, its fair to say there not in the best condition and have the odd speck of rust here and are just genrally filthy, will autosol work ?

Also what do use to keep all the dull black bits in top condition like the frame, the bottom of the fork legs and the swingarm ?

I've used Autosol on the down pipes which works a treat!

As for the black bits - ACF-50 is amazing at bring the full black up to a lovely, showroom condition. Use a rag and soft paintbrush/detailing brush to get it onto the harder to reach nooks and crannies, then wipe off the excess. Works great on plastic too. For the metal it also provides a protective layer against corrosion and limits the appearance of the white-ish discolouration on some of the black fasteners; I.e. rear brake line clips etc

    Hope that helps

WD40 to clean first. Spray it on, and leave for 10 mins. Then, autosol them. Finish off by protecting them with ACF50. As Sam says, i use ACF50 on the bottom of the forks and other black bits....makes it look mint.

If the downpipes are stainless "optiglanz". Its made for stainless steel only. Make sure everything apart from the pipes is masked off spray it on and leave it for max 3 mins then hose off. Made the pipes on my other bikes like new.

Resurrecting this thread as going to give my bike a good clean at the weekend...

May be a silly question, but are the standard downpipes (RR-D) stainless?

Mine have gone a blue / brown so assumed they were Ti ... all my R1's have been Ti from 2002 ... so I'm surprised if they are stainless!
