No race results included in case anyone is interested: Be advised this report is being posted at 4 am following some atrocious liver damage. Travelled the guts of 400 miles today from Leeds to portrush mostly in the rain, and I can recommend the following . 1: turn up early for Holyhead ferries. 2. The harbour bar has an upstairs area, use it, do t try and cram 50 people into somewhere designed for 12. 3. Allowing someone to win a race when they've qualified so low down the grid that they start in the second wave and then win the race on overall times is grossly unfair and Michael Dunlop should be the winner of race one and should be allowed to twat alistair seeley. On a post race perspective : approximately 14% of people understood Guy Martins post race interview, including me, but best quote of the night sent to Bruce Ansty when asked on the starting grid why he was choosing the tyre he was on he replied " aww it's just a bloody lucky dip isn't it" The racing was epic. Far too fast for the conditions, and just what I expect from these racers. Guy Martin appears to be ploughing another lean furrow as a top rider who just can't get a win, he was impressively quick this evening but was comprehensively outpaced by Michael Dunlop. On the plus side, massive respect to the rider in the super stock who appeared to be on a shop bought rep blade, long way off the front but doing something many only dream of! Keep going mate whoever you are! Had far too much beer tonight, but have made invaluable contacts should I ever need a tattooist in Essex and a plumber in Dumfries, Pictures will probably be next week once I download the camera. Ps : that Seeley's a weasely wee git and I can't find anyone who likes him. I shall boo him on Saturday. These are the days we are born to live my friends, enjoy.
Watched the racing live on the BBC NI website. Cracking racing in seriously tricky conditions. Fair play to those boys.
I had a proper sore head this morning and promised never to drink again. So I'm currently in the offshore bar in portrush breaking my own promise to myself. As I mentioned in yesterday's / this mornings post there was a bloke racing on a repsol yesterday and I bumped into him in the paddock today, nice bloke, and here's the blade, obviously a few alterations from standard
Usually online if you go to bbc Northern Ireland website there's a section with road racing and usually a watch now link for the racing live!
Was A total washout today!I rode home through what can only be described as a monsoon!muddy water running down the road and it rained (heavy) from morning to evening! And I had a ball! love Biking with my mates,we just laughted in the face of the rain.
Well as Toy40 said it was a proper washout yesterday. Got two laps of super sport and a win for Michael Dunlop followed by four hours of delays from the organisers whilst they prayed for a break in the rain that never came. Like most people there I spent all day in my bike waterproofs and still got soaked. And today? It's a beautiful blue sky, had a brilliant ride down to Dublin port along the N52 through Slane, and some other little towns with funny names. Stopped for brews every hour and at every one of them we were made welcome and chatted about bikes with locals. The Irish drivers have a lot in common with the Europeans, more than happy to dive out of the way to let you crack on on the roads. So despite the weather it's been a good trip, none of the racers were hurt too bad, everyone's fit to cross over to Manx land, and based on his form here and at the previous meets, Michael Dunlop will win at least one TT race this year! Best quote of Saturday, William Dunlop is asked about the terrible grip conditions and how he can see where he's going, reply "it's so bad out there I don't want to see!" Really need to get some flexibility built into the road closure orders now, Friday was a glorious sunny day, everyone knew Saturday was going to be poor, unless they can make alterations to the schedule at short notice this brilliant event is going to die off.
enjoyed the write up and great to hear you had a good time despite the terrible weather, agree with you they really need to have the option of changing the days if weather turns.
