Hi, I'm Pete, and have just out a deposit down on an '09 HRC. Had a really tough time making a decision between the blade, and a street triple, and now between the '09 which has 1200 miles on it, or spending more on a '12, which wouldn't be in the colours I want (2013 HRC). I test rode a '12 in black and love the LCD dash, wheels and also the motor sounded more 'fruity' - popping and crackling. Need to decide by Friday really I've had quite a few smaller Hondas - cbr400, vfr400, nsr250 (mc28) and an rs250 - which I raced for a while, until the credit card got maxxed out. Rode nothing for a while (10 years or so) but then went and bought a Harley, think it would be a good way to get back in. I'm already frustrated by the lack of suspension or precision to it - I'm obviously not cut out for a cruiser. I also got a r120gs in part-ex for a car, but being a short arse I am having to lower it before I can really use it much. What has really surprised me is that the blade suits my size better than the cbr600 - due to the narrow frame I guess. It was so easy to ride as well - all that mass centralisation works Anyway, I'm 99% certain it will be the blade, as I prefer bikes with fairings, but to be fair the street triple was a blast too. So, should I go for a newer bike (I've ridden them both and loved them both) - the newer one had a slight edge, but as I said - wrong colours and about £1k more. Cheers, Pete
Whatever you do, shipmate, get the Fireblade. Think of it as having been selectively bred for 20 years to be the cutting edge road/race bike of the mightiest motorcycling company. There's also the thought of one of us coming after you if you get the Trumpet. We're everywhere! No pressure then.
Got to be the fireblade I think the triumph is a lovely bike but the blade would always get my vote oh ye welcome to the forum Deep down I think you've already made your mind up with the forum you have just written on and joined !!!!!!!!
Welcome to the forum, having gone from a speed triple to blade I would not go back. Fire blade. As for which ne and price whatever u wan mate and welcome along
Hi, I am a newish member here to. I bought a 2012 in black. It's a fantastic bike. When I was searching for the new one I did see that Dobles had a load of new (11 plate) blades in HRC colours and they were very reasonably priced. Don't know if they have any left. I am just down the road in Ascot so will look out for you when you get the bike!
Thanks Ted - I had a quick look, but can't see anything too special on the website. Sadly the colours I like most are the 2013 tricolour, but the 2012 red and white are growing on me It's just whether it is worth the extra over the previous model for the dash really. How do you find yours? I liked the gear indicator and shift lights, and the whole lcd tacho (not quite Pinagale though ). What I really need is a decent hud for speed though - not one of the ones you stick on the outside of your helmet. Keeping to exactly the speed limit had me constantly having to check by looking down. Still, with enough practice, it should be possible to judge the speed accurately.
Pete, I've had a Triple (Speed Triple) and the Fireblade is in a different league. Just buy a Fireblade and save yourself the pain S
OK I am convinced Got a price agreed on the Harley, but now need to decide - 2012 with the new suspension and dash, or 2009 in nice colours + save some cash?
My goodies would probably be an LCD dash and some big pistons suspension lol. Perhaps that answers my own question. OK, maybe some new leathers then. Just tried my old ones on, and I still fit - but only just lol.
Howdy neighbor - I'm just down the road from you (Ashford/Chertsey). Let me know if you want to go out for a wobble sometime there's very little different between the 8-12 other than aesthetics and revised suspension, so I personally would go for the 09 in the colours you really like and spend 1/2 the change on some sensible mods to it (braded hoses, Crah protection etc) This may help
Welcome. Know someone with a place in Windsor, Her's name Liz, her hubbie Phil is a bit poorly at the moment but sure she would love a natter with a blade owner, you should pop round for a cuppa
