I've been reading lots about the airbox flapper mod that can be done to the blade. I've had mine a couple of years but have no idea if it's been done or not? It's got a full ackro titanium system and PCV.

If I look at the front of the bike above the radiator I can see the air intake with a wire mesh infront if it. There is a flap that is permanently open( horizontal position ) and if I push it down to close it, it flicks back open again. Has this mod been done to my bike already then?

Actually on further investigation I don't think it has been done, I've looked on google and apparently I've got to disconnect and blank the pipe coming from the gold diaphragm between the radiator and engine. Just done this do I'll see if it makes any difference tonight when I take the bike out.

If open all the time I would say its been done, is it open when you start it?
There are other levels you can take it too also, Arthur removed the flap completely on mine and has taken further again on other members and hollowed the whole thing out

It was open with the bike off but to be honest I didn't check if it was closing when revved. I've removed the pipe and plugged it now so the mod has definitely been done. I CBA to remove and gut the airbox. To be honest I think the difference would be negligible.

Well it sounds better for sure, nicer induction noise but I think it feels slower, it pulls the same but it feels like its holding back some. Maybe I need to get it set up properly on a dyno.

I've just reversed this mod back to standard and the bike feels much more responsive at lower rpm, more eager to rev up and pulls a lot harder. Maybe it's because I have the PCV loaded up with the map for my full Acropovic ti system. Do you think the mod only works when the bike is correctly mapped for it?

Probably needs mapping. The flapper restricts air intake at low rpm to overcome noise test
