Ok so I have covered roughly 1k since service.

Have been checking oil regularly and it's been at a steady level, went to check this morning and it was very low! Do the '11 blades burn oil or is there something wrong?

My R6 drank oil like no tomorrow and I know hot running performance engines do burn a certain amount of oil but slightly concerned about this!

I did hammer it the last time I was out!

If this is common then recommended lubes please guys? I'm guessing a 10w 30? Mineral/synthetic?

    Cheers guys! =)

they do use oil, cant remember the exact quote from honda, but wouldn't worry too much, unless it's burning loads.

as far as I remember honda did state that anything up to 1ltr per 1k miles was okay.

Some use oil others don't. I had to add 1/2ltr after 2k touring. other than the odd 100-200mil never been a problem with my 11 blade.

If your bike burned that much they'd never be a need for an oil change as you'd have four litres going in at different intervals in 4k miles.

My point exactly, i used this argument when i wrote to Honda customer services. If you used your bike in the same manner as a car for the daily commute, then in an average year (doing about 10,000 miles per annum)..... you would be putting 10 litres of oil through the damm thing ! Christ a HGV would not use that much.

That's totally unacceptable in my opinion. Although Honda quote 1 litre per 1000 miles, I would consider that excessive oil consumption. I drive a Honda car that Honda claim can use the same amount of oil in the same amount of miles, mine fortunately doesn't use any but I think it's just a get out clause for them.

Well it took just under 500ml for 1k miles so I'm guessing this isn't too bad! Went for some Castrol Power 1 racing 10w 30 oil. Now I need a new tyre =(
