So a few people had asked about the snoozebox this weekend so thought i'd share a few thoughts i had over my break at Silverstone... We booked in March 2013 so got one of the boxes at Village, the main centre that has the 'boozebox' bar and 4 minutes from the GP Village with lots of stalls and food etc. We were sitting in Village B so perfect for us. Arrived on Friday and left on Monday. A pic of the 'boozebox' bar, Village B and the snoozeboxes in the background, bike and car parking in the centre and Wellington straight on the left... We turned up on Friday at about 1pm and the first person i saw was AllBlade taking out pics, lovely to meet you mate, shame i didn't see to meet up at the Honda stand on the Saturday, time just seemed to fly by! First port of call, checking in. Smooth as. We were then shown to our room. Needless to say i knew it'd be small but it was a bit smaller than expected, lol! It served us fine, the only problem was that there was little space to get ready in - one had to lay on the bed while the other got changed and then swap. View from outside the box with the only standing space (my bro as model!).. Polishing his helmet, lol! Sod the towels, there are more important things.. Anyway, next, off to the snoozebox 'boozebox' bar. Pleasantly surprised to find £3 for a Carling and £4.50 for a corona/koppaburg etc. The view from the balcony over Wellington straight was amazing (with free champagne on arrival).. Video.. In the evening most people congregate in the bar for a meal, including the other snoozebox people staying at the vale accommodation. Menu didn't change for 3 nights and wasn't overly cheap for the smallish portions but we had a great few nights meeting and chatting to people, it really was a social affair and one night we were drinking until 1.30am and they didn't even think about asking us to leave! Menu... All in all a good stay and we'd definately go back again there next year (although the prices seem to have gone up ALOT!). Rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels and complimentary water etc so no probs with cleanliness. Only thing i'd say is that the staff can sometimes be a bit rushed and the meals etc delayed as they only have a kitchen the size of mine at home! Anyway, a few more pics from the 4 days... 'Mega Pints' - 1.5 pints of Guiness with a shot of gin - lovely!
Liking that a lot Fezza. Saw these at the TT a couple of years back and my missus fell in love with them. I'd love to get one for the garden and move her into it toute suite. Great spot to watch the racing from too. Megapints! just working out the time that would save me makes it a must.
Hahaha, sod moving the missus in there - i'd happily move in myself, lol! Too right - two megapints saves you going to the bar for at least an hour
Great review. Been to Silverstone a couple of time and often wondered what they would be like to stay in. Now I know!
Awesome write up, thanks for that mate! defo look into that for next year... i hate camping! one question, what on earth did you take in that luggage? take less than half of that for 9 day tour! lol
They did look good option - could the booze box be used instead of a grandstand seat for watching or pretty dull view?
Ha, now theres a question! I took clean clothes for every day and some trainers. Was mostly my DSLR and lenses in the tail pack with my ipad to be fair. Everything was half the size and no rucksack on before we stopped at Tescos before getting there - there is about 18 cans of fosters in the luggage in that pic!!!
Yeah, it's open literally all weekend so we watched the Moto2 free practice there etc. To be honest, you have no screen there (apart from inside boozebox downstairs) and you see them exit the Village section up until the bridge on the Wellington straight so a little overtaking but not a massive amount - i'd be bored after a while. I suppose if it was chucking it down on race day and you don't have covered seating then it's a good second option?
It was Corona from Tescos (as that's what they served in the boozebox bar ) on the saturday, any better? lol!
Oh, and on the way back i had space for the RIDICULOUS amount of Tech 3 and TT legends stuff i bought so was glad for the extra space - a Tech 3 gillet doesn't fold up very small!
Fezza.. I`ll be checking that Snooze Box for next year.. If you dont mind me asking how much was your stay.. ?
It cost us about £250 from memory, that's for 4 days, 3 nights, including an all you can eat continental breakfast each morning, which was lovely by the way! Looks like it's gone up to £350 for next year though
It's per room so we paid £125 per person as there were two of us. You could easily sleep three in there - the double bed is big as is the single. Think you'd have to know your two mates fairly well though! p.s. don't fart in such a confined space, your room mates won't thank you!!! lol!!!
