I don't currently have a q/a throttle or quickshifter. I have decided I need a Q/S for sure, but the q/a throttle isn't essential. Sure it makes things a little easier, but it takes a second place to the Q/S. Same with the gear indicator. I would personally buy a spare rear subframe, a spare clock bracket, spare clip ons, standard brake levers and a full set of bodywork. These are all things that I have had to replace in crashes. It is amazing how much stuff/crap you accumulate over the year of racing, but it is all stuff you will need at some point. Motoforum is a great source of stuff, but I am buggered if i can find you a rear shock!

Ha ha... The rear shock is proving difficult lol

The qs and qat are wish list but not essentials. The clip ons ill get and keep oe as spare for now. Got spare levers, good shout on the subframe and clock bracket... Will keep my eyes peeled for cheapo bargains!

The gear indicator I have so it's just a plug in job

The bodywork is also a good shout - more dollar!! Lol but I might just have to start with some faith and a shit load of duct tape ha ha

Bit of a heads up on the surframe, if you have a standard one on now, stick to standard. I bought a Moto 46 one and the geometry was different and totally cocked up my riding position, plus the bodywork didn't engage properly around the tank.
Bodywork wise, I use these guys:

    Untitled Document

and used these guy on my 06 bike:

    Honda CBR1000RR Bodywork

Both are good quality, so no complaints there.

Again, with the clock bracket, if you have a standard one on there, get a spare standard one. There may be differences in fit, which are not what you need if you need to do a quick bodywork change.

cheers dude, stock subframe and intend on staying that way so it's stock class... change it and your in supersport class is it not? plus the bodywork fits.

not used profibre so cheers, used A16 road and race who are ok tbh, and cheap! ;) but thanks for the links.

have ses bracket as the standard one was erm, slightly snapped in the incedent leading to having a blade track bike ;)

Yeah, stick to stock as much as poss. Get a spare SES bracket as clock brackets seem to go in every single crash. They are a right pain, as they aren't exactly cheap.

these guys are good for things like numbers:

    A&R Racing | Motorcycle Racing Parts | Tyres | Chains | Brakes | Bodywork

Get loads of numbers and try to stick to the same number for each club you join. It makes it a lot easier if you can run the same number for every time you go out.

Apart from that, you can never have too many spares. I am still undecided about the crash bungs, as they seem to send your bike skywards should it hit grass. They do a great job providing the bike remains on the tarmac, but as soon as it leaves this and heads for the shrubbery, the bloody things dig in and cartwheel your bike. It is a 50/50 thing on these. Certainly go with GB Racing engine and crank covers, but as for bungs, the jury is still out on this one.

All I can say Navvy is if you have the urge to race, then go for it. Even if you decided after a couple of meetings that it ain't for you (which I very much doubt), then at least you have tried it. I took the view that I didn't want to reach 65 and look back with regrets at what I could and should have done when I had the chance. Get a pre injection R6 for about £2,500 and go try it for a year. :D
