Michael Dunlop not racing in 2014 - Motorcycle news : Racing news - Visordown whats this all about?? Either his head has swollen so big that no one wants him or there is something else going on that hasn't been released yet .... I'd say he didn't sign on to the TT Legends again because of what happened last year with the senoir race( something about not having the same power on the bike as JM ) and no other top team that has a place free so where does that leave him?.... maybe BMW?? his own team? BSB? I reckon it's a pity, because this guy has so much raw talent, but I wouldn't mind McPint getting another few under his belt whats your thoughts??
Something about wanting to run his own team with support from say Honda or Yam, But no one wants to give him all the power just in case it goes tits up. Or similar via Twitter and forums.
I hope it is just him playing the politics game and trying to force a teams hand to give him what he wants. As I said on another thread, I was surprised he did not win the Seniors as he was on fire this year. In the Seniors race he seemed very low key (for him) and seemed quite disgruntled. I wondered if he had been told to let JM win or had a slightly inferior bike. It will be a big loss to race fans if he does not race as he is an outstanding road rider and also a bit of a hollow win for riders that do win as they will not have won by beating what is possibly the best rider atm. There may well be an element of ego of course, but then I do not have a big problem with people with a huge ego if they can walk the walk and he certainly can. I doubt very much he will be able to raise the necessary backing for his own team and I think that would be a bit too much for him to organise at such late notice.....unless he has been working on it already. If it was me and I had his talent I would ride for a top team ( other than Legends) and wipe the floor with all of them at the next TT. I enjoy the road races more than track races and just hope he will be out there next year.
Best way fir him to stick it to the establishment, is to have his own 1 man team and wipe the floor with the rest with his all out style, to win 4 races in his gun ho style and then to be not as competitive in senior to me looks like he was told to back off to let Mcguinnes have a win. Maybe its Mcguinnes whi threw his dummy out and threatened to quit Honda which forced Honda big wigs to rein in Dunlop, making him mad and you wont like him when his mad!!

Not sure if theres any places left in the top teams, hillier is kawa's main focus, hutchy for milwaukee, and his brother is at Tyco suzuki I enjoy the road races more than track races and just hope he will be out there next year.
dunno why though as MD is the future and JM is on the way out, might win a few more races, but MD will dominate for many years to come with the right team!
I know a lot like him but I cant stand him, big headed @rse that thinks the whole paddock should march to his tune.He throws his dummy out of the pram more than stoner ever did.roll on 2014 and seeing hutchy out and about again.plenty more good riders out there would appreciate any TT legends bike.
I used to think this about him. Then I met him once at the Manx. My Ducati had rattled off a few bolts over the mountain and he just let me in his pit tent to go through his spares to see if anything matched. Seemed the least pig heaeded bloke in the world in that moment. I agree that this does smack of arrogance though. Who knows?
not the same guy I met in skerries then lol he has walked off a few starting lines for various reasons, one being he wanted starting money but the small club never has or will pay starting money, lucky he did as that night someone poured a few gallons of oil all around the track and the race had to be canceled.
He has been racing under the MD Racing banner for 2 years now. The only bike honda gave him was the full superbike. Im sure he will race next year on his own bikes but the internationals would need a full spec machine prob.
indeed he has but he has also been saying he wants to win all five TT races and has been proactively trying to secure all the best machines for each category. sure he didnt like it when shaun muir said he was leaving it late in the game to ask for rides and he would most likely end up paddling his own boat around the TT.
Was MD's whereabouts the nite before questioned on the oil matter? Miby it was a "if I'm not getting any starting money then nobody's even gettin a start here!!!"
do you reckon theyre trying to massage the big sponsors into the TT like motoGP ? by breaking JMcG & MD up, it gives to two large sponsor teams and do that with a few others then youve got yourself big money competition ?
im saying nothing haha im still looking forward to 2014 with brookes and hutchy taking to the nw200 and TT, should make good viewing and dont forget william is signed up for tyco too, he's a good rider with just a poor run of luck.
Update - two metre man Conor Cummins to partner John at Honda for NW200 and IoM TT. "It's great news that Conor will be joining the team. It will be a pleasure to be his team mate." (JMcG)
