Now, the rear pegs are off the bike, the next change is short levers. I love ASV/Pazzo/Titax etc but funds are limited at the moment, (I appreciate design/quality is built into the price) I have seen on ebay levers from Hong Kong/China at a fraction of the cost. My mind is telling me,I should not consider buying them, as they may not be up to european standards of manufacture etc, I would be interested in comment's from you, who have fitted these cheaper levers .
Best Info I can give you is to get a long clutch lever and a short brake lever. Also to be honest I haven't really heard of many bad reports.
I've been running these hard all Summer on my Track Bike and they been spot on. The Blue ones are genuine Pazzo's on the Blade at £160 a pair. The Red one's are genuine 'Ching Chong Chang' offa eBay and cost £23.50 delivered! Can't tell em apart! U takes ya choice and pays ya Dollars!
The thing with the cheap chinese levers is the machining tolerances. You may get one that works and fits perfect in which case you'll be absolutely fine. If you get a duff one though it may not be as smooth or may need a bit of bodging to get it to work. I know people that have had both experiences The materials are usually identical to the expensive stuff

As mentioned, it's the machining tolerances that occasionally let them down. The cheap chinky ones I bought, the clutch wouldn't fully release... I probably could have ground them down and made them work but I'd lost confidence. I don't reckon you would have any chance of compensation if they damaged your brakes/clutch... it's a risk at the end of the day
Dude be very careful with fitting cheap parts to essential systems like braking. Yeah so you save 50quid or so on a genuine lever but whats that worth if you have an issue and either can't engage brake or it won't release due to slight machining issues? I'd just keep an eye on eBay and pick a second hand genuine set up. On track its not so bad as you have run offs and also an ambulance waiting nearby.... "Should be ok" is not good enough for brakes etc IMO
Have you seen the quality of levers fitted to a cheap Chinese bike like a soooyasonganumber69noodlesplease? Do you think these are any worse than those cheap levers for a blade? They cost the same to manufacture. Millions of people in China/Asia ride bikes with 3 or more people on board and goods and if the levers were rubbish then this test alone would prove that, but they don.t snap so I conclude that the Likes of quality levers are made in cheaper countries and sold to us for enormous profit.
in fact i've just bought a set of lever gaurds for a rather reasonable 18.99,a pair,witht 2 spare gaurds..... now,compared to 50+quid for 1 and having been reccomended by other users you'd be a very stubborn person to buy anything different. saying thatmthey haven't arrived yet so cant comment o the actuall quality just yet....
see now you say that about brakes etc,but who are the most popular M/C manufacturer you know? (i'll assume you've said Brembo),and what do 99% of people that use Brembo's do to it,they lockwire the little tab washer underneath the lever as it has a habbit of popping off (and then the lever!!!!).It's a known fault,issue,problem with them,some would say a manufacturing defect but we all still buy them regardless.
I have the cheap Chinese £23 a pair levers on both my bikes...never had an issue with them at all....in fact on my Suzuki they originally sent the wrong clutch lever pivot (hydraulic instead of cable). I emailed them about it, they apologised profusely and sent me the correct part by express mail free of charge within 2 days. I wonder how many "branded" lever manufacturers would be so accommodating ... Quality and service...I have no qualms about buying stuff from China....how many of you are accessing this site through something Chinese made right now ??
Scooby I agree with you mate but because cheap levers aren't subjected to the same manufacturing quality checking as more well known brands there have been some duff ones found in circulation. Just something to watch for but doesn't mean you can't get decent ones which won't cause any issues These occurrences can be found easily online by searching so not a myth
Why not buy Chinese tyres too? In fact, just buy a Chinese bike. P.S. It's Chinese, not ching, chang, chong or chink
I have never heard of cheep ones braking and know of loads of people using and have used them, you don't put enough force into either lever to snap them to be honest even an emergency stop think how much pressure actually goes through the lever.........if your thinking alot you need your brakes checking
